I agree with your 1st point (77% of the tickets does not mean 77% of the money), but your second point is incorrect right? The bookies win when money is spread evenly on both sides of the line. That's their only goal. When the spread moves its a reaction to move bets closer to 50/50.
You think they will only move the line based on the money that comes in? I think it’s a huge factor, but I don’t think it’s the only thing that moves the line especially with the nationwide public legal betting sector opening up.
They’re still ultimately handicapping the game. Maybe it’s different in the NFL but I’ve seen a lot of advertised publicly favored teams in CFB by wide (reported) percentages and not seen much line movement like one would think. I also don’t think they’re completely honest or accurate with the percentages they release on where all the money is because I agree with you in theory.
50/50 rule isn't bookies only motivation. They also want to take advantage of sucker bets. Soccer bets have 3 pending results. I have seen so many tricks by betting companies and I learned my lesson enough especially on live soccer games.
One of the ways we (bettors) benefit is that it's incredibly difficult for them to keep up with every single freakin game. I think NFL they can more closely monitor the money and adjust the line. Morehead State vs. Beaver College they are usually just setting the lines and ignoring -- Those were my dream schools btw
Only time I bet soccer was during the height the pandemic and there were no sports except soccer in like Belarus or something. I was jonesin bad
My biggest hit to date. Some context. My soccer team Galatasaray isn't winning the title for the past 4 years. This the longest drought I remember. Today we were on the road against a tough opponent. If we tied or lost, we would drop 8 or 9 points behind league leades and say goodbye to championship.. I placed below bet around 55th minute of the game where the opponent was down a man after the red card in around 38th minute. I told myself. If we can't win this game and say goodbye to championship let me lose money as well. if we win this game, let me win some money as well. Called my wife, got approval and placed a bet for $1000 at -250. Glad Galatasaray won 2-0 and my bet won. Wanted to share with you folks.
Congrats on the hit Brook! I spent all of August and September betting on the Atlanta Braves, hedging my mental stability if the Mets were to lose the NL East. Suffice to say, I won enough to recover almost 50% of my lifetime losses. So fuck you Atlanta Braves but thanks for making me money.
Congrats to you as well. My next big bet is when we play our archrivals Fenerbahce in January on the road. Will bet $1000 for Fenerbahce +0.5 If Galatsaray wins, that means we will probably win championship. If Galatasaray loses, at least I will make some money.
Win/win situation. That's how I felt about my Braves NL East winner bets. I placed a bet on it 3 separate times.

Ohio State to cover Cincinnati moneyline Notre Dame with the points no parlay, just single bets tail with caution as I’m better at basketball
I like Cincy. Trying to figure out what to do with Cuse/Notre Dame. I will be on Penn State. Iowa State +2.5 (-118) West Virginia +7.5 (-112)
