We need this guy bad. Can probably put together a decent stop-gap unit at halfback for the cost of a 5th or 6th which would be absolutely crucial to free us up to address the other 4 or so positions that aren't even close to being stop-gaps without a top round pick.
I would assume NO Wanted to wait until SAT not just to see if better offers come but if they like whose available in say round 5. I think Idzik told em though that he might have to take a back day or day 2 though and Loomis didn't wanna wait and miss out. I predict Jets 5th and a swap of 6th round picks(Jets have 178, NO has 183).
Here's the Brees interview where he says he's heard Chris Ivory has been traded to the #Jets. http://t.co/X1pVNIWiys. Begin at 4:45 mark.
Goodson + Powell + Ivory + McKnight would be nice deep versatile RB unit. I hope this happens tonight. It may be part of the #13 pick trade down, who knows.
I would think it was the 9 pick trade down if Ivory was part of that. Saints draft 15 and they'd only be moving up two slots if it was the 13.
According to the draft value charts, 15 up to 13 would be worth more than a 5th rounder. Also depends on if the Saints need a player they think Carolina will take at 14. Ideally, I think we'd use assets from a separate trade down to provide the pick that will seal this trade.
Carolina is probably looking for a DT. I think the Saints are looking for an OLB. Not really sure how a trade between the Jets and Saints would work. Saints are missing their 2nd in this draft which makes it hard for them to work a trade up unless they go up just a couple of slots and again it's hard to see why they would do that
Perhaps Jets swap their #9 with the Saints #15 for Ivory plus a third and some late rounder / conditional pick.
You can't go off the old Jimmy Johnson chart, overall the values have come down considerably in the last 30 years and it varies considerably from year to year. In this draft giving up the 13 for the 15 and netting Ivory would be excellent in my opinion. Then possibly trade down the 15 further and pick up another pick.
What year is the good old draft value chart you are referencing? Because if it is from prior to the NFL lockout, it is completely useless.
Chris Ivory averaged 3.6 yards per rush after first contact last season. The Jets averaged 1.6 as a team. U-P-G-R-A-Y-D-D
