a one hop rope to the right fielder with your #5 hitter coming up, not sure what the thinking was there.
Valentin with the opposite field double to bring in a run. I'm happy, but I still think they need a better second baseman (it was an opposite field hit on a changeup, so it is hardly indicative of a quick bat).
Duque continues to get hit hard. This is a little odd - we're used to seeing problems with walks, not hits.
I willing to give Valentin a little more time. After the slow start last year with the big turnaround, I can be patient. His defense has been phenomenal and he's only the 8 hitter. That said, I was really hoping the Mets would've signed Belliard during the offseason instead of Easily. He'd been available all winter.
I'm with you as far as Valentin goes. He's not a great hitter, but he comes through occasionally, and with this lineup, we don't need outstanding production out of our #8 hitter. His defense and his chemistry with Reyes would be hard to reproduce.
This is the 2nd time Gary and Ron have commented that they're suprised the Nationals aren't running wild trying to "make things happen". I wonder how running into outs helps your team score more runs?
this stuff absolutely kills me. losing is one thing, walking the ballpark on the mound and leaving runs on 3rd base just makes it not fun to watch.
