Glad you don't vote... Florida is clearly the most dangerous team in the country. I know you're either an FSU fan or a Miami fan, and that you're probably biased... Florida is the fastest and most physical team in the country. 1. Alabama - Undefeated in the toughest conference is college football. I don't know if they'll be able to handle Tebow and the Gators. 2. Texas Tech - Undefeated still...but probably won't finish that way. 3. Florida - Poised and ready to take over that #2 spot...and possibly the #1 spot after the SEC championship game. 4. Southern Cal - built like an NFL team...probably the best all-around team in the country. 5. Oklahoma - Could end up in the national championship if they win the Big 12, but they'll have to get past TTU and Mizzou...again. They should win out. Texas falls out because they most likely won't even win the Big 12 South even after starting out so great...
I absolutely hate the Gators, and all of Gator nation. But to think Florida is 5th in the country at this point is crazy. Only two teams left that have a legit shot at beating UF are Bama and Texas Tech. I think the best BCS Championship game would be Florida vs TTU. Unfortunately I dont see TTU going undefeated.
What do USC, UF, UT and OK all have in common... one loss. UF lost to an UNRANKED TEAM AT HOME UT lost to TT, undefeated #2 OK lost to undefeated #1 (at the time) and USC lost on the road to an unranked team. Based on this alone i see my rankings the way i do based on this week, obviously its going to be drastically different at the end of the year.
How is it crazy? We are talking about Texas who was #1 for some of the season and Oklahoma who is equally very good. I can easily see either of them winning. The SEC QB play has been putrid this year, Florida hasn't played an offense all year that is even remotely close to the offenses that Oklahoma and Texas has. The SEC isn't as good as that division in the Big 12 with Georgia not playing up to the hype of the beginning of the season and LSU hasn't been able to replace Perrioux at all
The defenses in the SEC are far better than anything in any of the other conferences. The SEC has size, speed, strength, and schemes that the Big 12 doesn't...that's why we're seeing these Big 12 teams put up huge numbers. I'm not trying take anything away from Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech, but they wouldn't light up the score board every week if they were in the SEC.
The speed of the SEC is overrated. The offenses are also putrid in comparison to the Big 12 which does skew their defensive numbers.
IMO thats ALL its about...you cant look at wins bc you can only play whos on ur sched. The thing that separates these teams is who they lost to and how.
Are you really trying to say there's a conference in America better than the SEC, MSU? Give me any big 12 qb team vs any SEC defense, even Ole Miss, and i'll show you how Defense wins Championships.
Here is the issue with that..... 1st off you had Brad Edwards on Mike and Mike last week saying the voters would vote for Penn State because of sentiment for Joe Pa.... that alone gives this no credibility. Now with your statement.... should Oklahoma beat Texas Tech that gives you a 3 way tie atop the Big 12 South with only Oklahoma having a game against a quality opponent Oklahoma State remaining. The voters will not vote Oklahoma ahead of Texas based on the fact that Texas beat them on a neutral field. The issue is Oklahoma will have beaten Tech in Norman and Tech will have beaten Texas in Lubbock. I think that gives the edge to the Horns even though I think their the 3rd best team in that conference. Now things will really get screwy should say the Big 12 South Champ lose to the North Champ and I still think Bama loses a game before the SEC Title Game. It's really a shame because I think there are 3 teams that I feel are the best in the NCAA. Oklahoma vs Florida would be unreal, USC vs Florida would be amazing and Oklahoma vs USC would be amazing. I just don't think Bama, Tech or Texas are good enough to play with these guys although I really don't know.....
Could you imagine if we had a playoff this season? Pretty simple..... 11 Conference Champs 5 WC teams The ACC, Pac 10, Big East, CUSA, Sun Belt, WAC, MWC, and MAC, only deserve 1 team and nobody can argue otherwise. Should Oregon State run the table (which they won't) and win the Pac 10 I guess you have to give USC a WC. If you seed them..... and then work it so that teams from the same conference can play each other in the 2nd round Your conference champs CUSA: Tulsa WAC: Boise MAC: Ball State Sun Belt: Louisiana Lafayette Pac 10: USC Big 12: Texas Tech Big 10: Penn State MWC: Utah Big East: Pitt SEC: Alabama ACC: North Carolina 5 Wild Cards: Texas, Oklahoma, Florida,Ohio State and Georgia. Now should Oregon State end up winning the Pac 10 Ohio State is out and should Michigan State end up winning the Big 10 then Georgia is out. Seedings based on BCS standings 1 Bama 2 Tech 3 Texas 4 Florida 5 Oklahoma 6 USC 7 Utah 8 Penn State 9 Boise 10 Georgia 11 Ohio State 12 Ball State 13 North Carolina 14 Pitt 15 Tulsa 16 Louisiana Lafayette Obviously people in Pitt and Chapel Hill would bitch but hey your not going to win a national title anyway. Look at some of these amazing matchups.... USC hosting Ohio State Boise traveling to Happy Valley How about the potential 2nd round.... Penn State and Alabama Florida and Oklahoma
The reason that Florida and Alabama is on top in the SEC is because they have shown at least competent QB play with underachieving Georgia failing to produce the hype, and when 4 of the top 10 teams in the country reside in one division how could I not say that it is better this year. SEC is down compared to years before and like I said before it is real easy to boast big time defense when you play cupcake central for a nonconference and big name teams with bad QB situations.
The SEC has fine quarterbacks. The defenses just know what they're doing. Jevan Snead at Ole Miss has an INT for every TD, but we beat Florida, almost beat Bama, should've beat Vandy and should've finished off the Gamecocks at home for HC. EDIT: By the way, we got him from Texas. There's your big 12 QB in the SEC. The best we're gonna do is 2nd best/west because of DEFENSE. Instead, we'll win out and hopefully put a rest to this Big 12 bullshit representing the SEC in the cotton bowl.
The only 2 QBs with reasonable stats are Tebow and Stafford with Snead and Wilson at a long distant 3rd and 4th and their years have been mediocre, your point is garbage since even comparing last year the stats of QBs across the board are significantly lower this year than last year in the SEC. A good QB on a good team will usually shine through even against tough defenses.
I wasn't talking about the Big 10 but the Big 12. But I don't mind talking about them, they has been unfairly been attacked by the media at an ridiculous pace. All you hear about is that the Big 10 is down when it is just Michigan that stinks, while they ignore the terrible seasons by the Big East, the Pac 10 and the ACC. And most of those conferences have been terrible for a while.
They play home games vs. 3-6 Mississippi State and 5-5 Auburn. I think they'll head into the SEC championship game at 12-0. Anything can happen in college football, but Bama should crush Miss State and their rival Auburn.
