A reasonable, balanced, and fair opinion. Prepare to be shit upon. For real though i don't know shit about hackett so you gave me some faith. Also agree with your rodgers take, paying too high of a price for him will ruin us.
Half of us are chomping at the bit for Rodgers to wear Jets green the other half thinks he's a bum. Hard to please this fan base. Joe Montana could come striding out of a bend in time into Met Life emblazoned in green at the ripe age of 22 and Jets fans would still piss and moan.
No one here that I can recall said he was a good HC for Denver. Far from it. HC and OC are two different animals. Bingo. Now let’s get a QB that kind of fits that quick read option.
I agree if the package was close to the compensation you suggest. The jets got Boomer from the Bengals for a 3rd round pick and then a conditional 2nd round pick the following year (which never developed). Something like that or what you suggest is more reasonable--but NOT the two first rounders that I heard from the initial report.
Plus Hackett bares more than a passing (no pun intended) resemblance to Tom Hanks. So after the Jets win the Superbowl - Ron Howard will direct an award-winning American classic about about a hard knock football team's rise to glory.
Ok, well I certainly have no proof to show otherwise. To me, when a head coach is fired before the end of a season, its indicative of him being the cause of a problem: Kind of like when the Giants fired Ben McAdoo?
I still have nightmares about 3rd and 7s with 4 wide sets and seeing the play call that has them all doing 3 yard routes..
This Is the only way any of this would be deemed worth It. Literally the only way It can be justified. (Given we blow our load on someone like Rodgers.) Long odds though. If It happened though. I'd gladly eat crow.
I thought I made it clear why firing in the middle of season in this instance made a lot of sense. The Broncos spent a king's ransom getting R. Wilson and he flopped. There are good reason's - beyond anything Hackett did or didn't do - why this happened. Wilson's preferred style of play doesn't mesh with WCO-style that Hackett prefers. And there were key injuries that came into play also. But the bottom line is that the Broncos either had to admit they made a massive mistake in getting Wilson - one which may echo for years - or they could admit hiring a first time HC who makes far less money and didn't cost them any draft picks was a mistake. By firing Hackett midseason it says the latter was the reason pretty loudly. IOW: "We know that Russell Wilson is a great QB and will be for us for years, which is why we gave up so much to get him. But unfortunately Coach Hackett couldn't make that work, therefore he has to move on to other opportunities" (or P.R. words to that effect).
Jets fans are the easiest fanbase in the league to please. Go on the Bills or Cowboys forums, they're talking about firing McDermott and trading Dak. The Seahawks board wanted to fire Schnieder and Carroll a year ago. We just want people who don't embarrass us, and it's not our fault the Jets have been the worst franchise in football in the last decade.
