Johnson was behind an OL which sent what? 2 or 3 to the Pro Bowl? Hes a complete monster and i was waiting for him explode as a Rookie and even think he got robbed of the Heisman. BUT STILL! we havent seen him take a 16 game workload, and with Herman Edwards calling the shots you might see Johnson injured before the end of this yr. If he can do what he did last yr for 1 or 2 more yrs. than hes proven. for now hes just an explosive player.
LT had the best blocking FB in the game blocking for him this year in Lorenzo Neal. Not to mention another Pro Bwol starter in Antonio Gates protecting him at TE. You can call Gates a receiving TE yet regardless TE is part of the O Line. So LT had Two pro bowlers in front of him blocking for him as well. And Shaun Alexander had 3 pro bowlers blocking for him this past season. So you really can't say that LJ's numbers were better because of his OL. If that was the case, the same can be said for either LT or Alexander. He was in Vermeil's doghouse his rookie year. Remember the "Larry needs to take his diapers off" comment. No way he was seeing time as a Rook. I do agree with you that I want to see him do it for a whole season when everyone is locked in on him as the feature guy in their O. Yet, Johnson is entering his prime as a RB this year and I only see upside for the next 4 or 5 years. Such a short lifespan for RB's that I can't see Johnson take a step back this year UNLESS he gets hurt.
He ranked 5th in the league in total carries last year I don't expect him to get more than 375 carries even with Herm.
Ok, doesn't change what I said. Do the math. Add another 40 carries to his 336 this past year and you have 376 carries. At 5.2 a clip, which was his avg. per carry, you're talking about close to a 2,000 yard season which was my original claim.
In which way dear sir? Everybody knows you do not know your right hand from your left hand when it comes to FB
Five me a lineman or a qb over a running back. Walter Jones, Richard Seymour, Dwight Freeney, Julius Peppers, Vince Wilfork, Casey Hampton, Jamal Williams. at QB either Manning or Brady. If I had to pick one lineman it would be Jamal Williams. If I had to pick a qb it would be Brady.
So many players, so many important spots to fill.... Brady at QB or Hines Ward-I think his balls-to-the-wall attitude and blocking skills combined with his toughness and catching ability make him a total package.
POINT TAKEN Gonzalez is a better blocker, I think we can agree on that. I'd agree in Alexanders case AGREED My main point is he appears to be the most explosive back right now, and he fits the bill with what hes shown so far. But I havent seen enough yet. I'd want him on the Jets though thats for damn sure
As for my Patriots, Ed Reed. To see him playing along Rodney Harrison would be amazing. For the Jets, I would think you'd want Tom Brady for two reasons. First, he'd be off the Patriots roster and second, love him or hate him there's no denying that he's resourceful and a winner.
Half of the Seahawks 05 offensive line, half of the Bengals WR's, Osi Umenyiora (just for his name alone), Chief running backs (when healthy), Heath Miller (a TE who can run, catch, and block?? What is that?) - How are we supposed to pick just one??? I want them all!!
He's gonna get hurt just because Herm Edwards is the coach, even though they got Priest Holmes on the team, the same guy who was the best rb in the league 2 years ago.Get over him.
I know its hard but thats the whole point of the thread it would be stupid if I said pick 10 players. if It were like that........... 1) Tom Brady 2)Lt 3) Ed Reed 4) Chad Johnson 5) Vernon Davis 6) Santana Moss 7) Julius Peppers(big enough for 3-4) 8) John Abraham 9) Reggie Bush( cause he could do everthing) 10) DeAngelo Hall
you can stick anyone behind the chiefs or seahawks line and still end up fine..i dont see the big debate in wanting a RB, they are mostly a dime a dozen lately prior to injury, carson palmer, because he was still young, can make every throw, is smart enough and showed enough untapped upside, unlike brady, he can fit in any offense (which isn't meaning brady sucks, he just can't run any kind of offense) Heath Miller is alright, but he's a TE, and don't overrate the crap out of him, for late 1st round TE's, I'd much rather have Ben Watson than Heath Miller (who is basically Anthony Becht, only reverse the hands and blocking part of Becht for Miller)
