I say leave Plawecki in the minors but get him up to AAA next month. If he performs well at AAA for 50 games or so then make him a September call up but not now. He's one of the few young players doing well in the minor leagues but he's had less than 50 games under his belt at the AA level, he needs more seasoning.

The other minor league players doing well, Brown, Campbell, Dykstra, Lutz are all fast becoming career minor league players.. they're all 27 / 28 yrs old. If the Mets fall further out bring them up and see what they can do at the ML level. They can't be much worse than Chris Young, Duda etc. and at least the organization will know what they have in aging players at the farm.

The saddest part of this is seeing just how barren the farm is for position players. There aren't any young (under 25) players at AAA that look like they're major league quality. At AA they have Plawecki, Clark, Reynolds, Johnson and Tovar but these kids aren't ready for the majors and are being blocked from AAA by the guys list above. This summer will be interesting, will they let these AA players move up to AAA and get more seasoning at a higher level so that come this time next year maybe 1 or 2 are ready and if not in June then certainly with the Sept '15 call ups. They need to get players ready for the majors at 23-25 not 28 yrs old.

T.J. Rivera and Jairo Perez are 25 and 26, tearing it up yet stuck at single A. Rather than move them along to AA they are letting them rot. I completely understand keeping Nimmo and Herrera at single A because they are very young but they need to start moving players like Perez and Rivera through their system. Its not like the major league talent is keeping them at the farm.

No matter what something needs to be shaken up this offseason. Colon and Young will probably be unloaded at the deadline but I still think a trade for a major bat is the way to go. Trading Gee Montero and a mid-level prospect could be enough to get one. Maybe not Giancarlo or Tulowitzki type bat but still something major. Hell getting Carlos Delgado only cost us Mike Jacobs.

No reason why a staff of Harvey, Wheeler, Niese, Synergaard and DeGrom cant be successful. And the more losses that pile up the more likely it is that Collins wont be here for much longer.

Gotta say, Niese is really showing how good of a pitcher he is. Solid solid starter. Great head on his shoulders too.

Geezuz 2 run homer in the top of the 13th off of Torres.

When are we going to get professional hitters.

    Dammit.

What was fun about it? (Really do not know. Watched about five minutes of it. Mets season unofficially ended last week vs Chicago).

Extra inning games are always intense. I felt like overall in the series, it was quite evenly matched, and was enjoyable baseball.

I watched the end--it was awful. I honestly hope that stadium goes empty through the rest of the summer and the Wilpon's become so cash strapped they have to do something. There are not 4 professional hitters on that entire team. It's shameful what's going on in this market.

The Mets history from 1962-2000 was fine, in my opinion. There were losing and winning cycles and a decent number of playoff and World Series appearances. 2001-14 has been an embarrassing stretch. The Mets should have made the playoffs at least seven times in the past 14 seasons based upon market size, new ballpark in that stretch and other things.

It is disgusting what has gone on in the past 14 seasons. I won't go to a Mets game again unless I have free tickets to a luxury box again. I sat in the upper deck in 2009 and could not even see the field. I had better seats in 2010 and then was in a box in 2013. The Mets do not win when I see them play in person and the seat I had in 2009 pisses me off to this day.

I haven't paid for tickets to a baseball game in decades. Our lawyers have great seats at Citifield and Yankee so that's never an issue as I'll probably go to half a dozen each per year but yeah I'd never pay my own money to see that product. Fuck the Wilpons. They can't be gone soon enough.

Not only did the Mets win in St. Louis today, but the obese 41 year old did the following:

    Pitched 8 innings
did not walk anyone, allowed only 4 hits and 1 run
hit a lead off double in the 6th with the Mets down 1-0, scoring the game-tying run, and starting a rally that resulted in another run
laid down two successful sacrifice bunts

Entering today, the fat man was 10/122 in his career, an .082 BA. He had zero extra base hits. The last time he had recorded a hit was 9 years ago, when with the Angels.

The run he scored today was the second run of his career.

Heard Smoltz talking about him yesterday and he said it's a good thing he's having somewhat of a tough time this year because he's going to learn a lot and become a better "pitcher" for it. Seeing him throw a game like that shows that he's got the stuff to be a frontline pitcher, he just needs experience and to learn how to become better, fight through bad situations.

    Very promising game from him.

    deGrom with a gem.

Unfortunately, that game and Wheelers game and the thought of all these young pitchers coming up are just going to fuel the Wilpons that things are just getting ready to turn, no need to spend $$ on big bats or position players.

Colon vs. Kazmir, both against their former teams.

Mets batter Kazmir somehow and Colon goes 8 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 8 Ks

    He even got another hit.

If the Mets were run by people with brains, they'd be aggressively shopping him.

I would like to see a Cron for Colon deal, but that might be asking too much as in the Mets might have to add something.

Was nice to see them hit Kazmir hard..all the talk yesterday about how the Mets made a mistake in trading him was laughable. Yeah it was a very bad trade but Kaz had plenty of average to below average seasons up until this year. No way he would've lasted 10 seasons in Flushing.

Reports out today that the Giants and Jays are really interested in Murph. Im really torn on trading him. We cant afford to give up a bat like his and if Sandy trades him it sends a message to the fanbase that we cant compete this year even in an average NL East. Still plenty of games left in the division. But in a year where there wont be a lot of impact bats available his value might never be higher. No idea what we could get back. Id want atleast a major league ready prospect plus another prospect.
