Rolle strikes me as the type of guy who, if he's not seeing the amount of playing time he was expecting after 2-3 years, he'd head straight back to school. And why wouldn't he? He's got both the brains and ambition to do it, so why waste his time playing 2nd- or 3rd-string football, when he could be advancing himself in the career he seems determined to make for himself? It probably wouldn't be too much of a pay cut either.

That said, I'd rather not spend a 4th on a guy who may not even be in the league after 2 years.

Rolle strikes me as a guy who really has his head in straight. He's smart as hell and has real goals in life. He postponed making millions in the NFL to study!

So #1 you know he isn't going to ever cause headaches over a contract he doesn't deserve. #2 he is clearly driven and will work hard at whatever he sets his mind to. #3 must be a great locker room guy, who won't get in any off the field trouble.

I think it's crazy that people are down on this guy because he's not just a dumb meat head.

we're down on him because being a neurologist takes fucking forever, and if he wants to accomplish that it means he's going to have to cut his career short by about 5 or 7 years (retiring at 27 or 28)

But you could also look at it as a plus. We can get a guy in the 4th rd with round 2-3 talent bc other people are down on him.

Plus, if he had a few million in the bank, and he actually enjoys school, he won't be in such a rush to finish. So maybe he doesn't care how old he is when he finishes.

The one thing I worry about with a guy like Rolle is that, because he's so intelligent, all of this very serious stuff coming out with regards to brain trauma is not going to be lost on him.

It's not just talk anymore like it was for intelligent guys back in the day, it's real, and there's signigicant evidence that a guy who prides himself on being learned and wordly (and who passes time immersed in published academic works) would not pass up if any little thing came out in a study or happened to him directly.

    Exactly. Great name, BTW.

I think it's fair to be concerned with Myron in the sense that football may not be his total life focus. You obviously don't want your kids to be morons, but at the same time teams want players whose major purpose in life is playing the game.

I think it he were a first round talent, with great measurables and all that kind of stuff it wouldn't matter, he'd still go early. However, he's good, but not a guy that I'd say would no question turn out to be a real player in the league. He's just a solid guy, and teams can find other solid guys that they feel will dedicate themselves 100% to the game.

Myron's a guy that's had a lot of advantages, including going to a great prep school here in NJ, and is very intelligent; he's trying to make the most of what he's been given by being so well-rounded. On the other hand, there are players out there who are from bad backgrounds, had little to no advantages growing up, and were only given the gift to play football. If that guy is dedicated to making the most of himself by being a great safety, then I won't judge him negatively for the other stuff.

Just wondering what prompted this guy to fall so deep? I know that the gurus have followed him closer than I have, so I'm curious as to your thoughts.

He feel so deep, because he was a Rhode Scholar. NFL teams saw a guy who gave up his Senior year to go studay oversea. He alway said that he only wants to play a few years, and then go back to medical school to become a doctor. His heart is not into football. He used football to get his education and to continue his education career. He didn't use football to became a Hall of Fame player.
