I agree that Alex Smith today was Mark Sanchez for his first 6 (IMO closer to 4-5) years. Most Jets fans thoughts on Smith seem to range between he is a QB they would settle for to one at this point they'd kill for. That being the case, why not bring Sanchez back for one more year as veteran comp? We've already lived through the inconsistent years, maybe the Alex Smith turnaround is just around the bend. IMO this inirectly supports the argument for not drafting a QB in the early rounds and having an offensive skill position heavy draft instead.

This. Also, there need to be a distinction made between the argument for adding offensive talent and "building around" Geno. They seem to be getting rolled into one by many but they are mutually exclusive. I, for example, don't want to draft a QB early but it's not because I'm interested in "building around" Geno. I want to improve the offensive talent so that whoever is the QB next year has a fair chance. I believe Geno can be in the pool of players competing for the starting job next year and that's it.

I'm not sure whether you are stupid or just trolling.

I have watched ALL of the QB prospects play- a LOT. I've seen Bridgewater play 2 dozen times over the last 3 seasons. I've seen Boyd play 8 times this year alone, once live. I've watched Manziel play 2 dozen games the last 2 years. I've watched McCarron play every game he's been on TV the last 3 years which is almost all of his games. I've watched Carr play 4 times now. I've watched Mariota (staying in school) at least 10 times. I've seen Mettenberger play 7 times this season and Murray play 6 times. I've seen Manion play 3 times and Fales play twice. I've even seen Jordan Lynch play twice. I've seen Hundley and Morris and Miller and Thomas play multiple times. I've got a post in this very draft forum that I keep updating whenever any of these propects play in a bowl game so we can discuss them.

    I've seen them ALL.

EXCEPT Bortles. What part of that don't you understand. And because I haven't seen him even once I have not passed a SINGLE judgement on him and have NEVER suggested we draft him in the first round or ANY round.

I have no basis for doing so.

Again, I have seen ALL the QB prospects a LOT. Except Bortles. And I have never advocated drafting him or anything else about him.

Are you just stupid, can't read or trolling?

You missed the point, I was told I was trolling but then someone asked if I'd be happy if Geno turned out to be the Alex Smith in his 9th year.

I said if he follows Alex Smith's career path then I would dump him now and trade back for him in 5 years when he finally becomes a servicable game manager.
