None of your points are at all persuasive.

First of all I have no sympathy for your argument that Revis in effect should take less than what the market will say he is worth. He should get paid what he is worth. What he is worth is something that can be debated. But you seem to think he should take less than he is worth. That is a ridiculous argument.

I agree as long as Mark Sanchez is Qb, the Jets certainly are not only Revis at Cb away from a Super Bowl. But at worst Sanchez will be gone next year. At that point filling some holes here and there, and hopefully with even an average level Qb, the Jets most assuredly can be a contender in 14.

The Jets are in cap hell now, but that is not because of Revis's contract. They can easily be out of hell next season with plenty of room for a deal with Revis. In fact trading him now worsens the cap hell for this year.

The situation with the ACL cuts both ways. It also lessens his value in a trade. I am not saying the Jets shold have done some big deal with Revis yesterday, without knowing more about his condition. Never said that. But the fact that they are not even talking to him is assinine and childish.

A proper contract can be entered into that will work under the cap, be based on better knowledge of his condition, and reflect his market value.

It is pure speculation for you to say Revis "knows" the Jets would be better off without him. That is nonsense. WHat is not nonsense is this all seems to be coming from Woody, a proven idiot when it comes to football knowledge.

I seriously would think if I found myself in agreement with something Woody was proposing that I should do more than take a deep breath. I would rethink my whole approach.

Do you really think that Revis is gonna sign for 13 million?

He's reported to have been asking to be paid better than most elite quarter backs.

He is asking for Joe Flacco, Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning type money. Revis affects one players on the field when he is out there. He affects the one wide receiver he is assigned to cover. He does not direct the defense, and while he is a spectacular player, his impact when compared with a QB is NOT worth that amount of salary cap space.

Therefore, if we can't afford to pay him in the ballpark of 13-20 million dollars, it would make sense to trade him before he walks, so that the Jets get some kind of compensation. Because Revis WILL walk, and SOMEONE will offer him well in excess of 20mill+ a year, and the jets won't be able to afford it.

I totally disagree with the analysis that cb is an unimportant position, have said so several times, and will not repeat msyelf here. Suffice to say your opinion downgrading the importance of the best Cb in the league is nothing more than your opinion.

The Jets most certainly will be able to pay Revis $13 million beginning next year, so you are clearly wrong there. It is also baseless for you to say that someone will offer him more than $20 million. Where do you come up with this stuff?

Your first two paragraphs contain a false assumption that the so called reports you refer to about what Revis wants is the same thing as what he will not only ask for, but the real question is what he will agree to sign for at the end of negotiations. Surely you can understand this point.

You're not winning anything this year anyway. We should be trading every bad contract we can and cutting the rest (Sanchez). We won't, but we should.

Market rate for the best cornerback in the league is overpaid. In other words, the value of the player is not nearly as much as the the cost of the contract.

Neither. Because you're not winning a championship with Vlad Duccasse as a starter and you're not winning a championship with one cornerback sucking up $13-16 million (even if he is the best cornerback in the league).

Brady did. But, of course, all he cares about is winning a championship - and since all Revis cares about his himself; the Brady situation doesn't really apply.

This is bs. Brady got guaranteed money and a signing bonus that was huge. You are only looking at his annual salary. His overall contract was a market contract.

Your opinion that Revis is not worth $13 million is merely your opinion, and it is ridiculous to say that the market price is always overpriced. If that was a team's position, it would never sign a free agent.

As for bad contracts, you think Revis's current contract is a bad contract in respect of the cap???

I can think of several contracts that are bad contracts for the 2013 cap. Revis's is not one of them.

But our own GM has said numerous times they are not actively shopping Revis, do you know something we don’t? The MEDIA, as we have seen in recent years, is actually making this a bigger situation than it is. Hey, anything to be relevant right?
Back to Revis and his “situation”, there really is non. If the Jets get blown away by a trade then they should and probably will pull the trigger. This in my opinion is highly unlikely for the reason we all know; the ACL and the “reported” desire to be the highest played Defensive player in the NFL (I have yet to see this substantiated).

Why would it be “asinine” to not be discussing his contract? Does he not have another year remaining? Can he pass a physical? Can he even run and cut yet? Then why would the Jets be discussing his contract? This is “disrespectful”? am I missing something?

Revis needs to shut his fucking mouth, sew his thumbs together (social media), and rehab his god damn knee. Be prepared to be in Jets camp unless Johnny I. calls him and say pack you’re shit” (I don’t see happening personally). From there, #24 will prove the worth that his mouth still says he is (or not) during the season. If he does that then we have some more interesting decisions to make (Mark, Holmes, Harris) this time next year.

And it does all start with Woody; but who can fire him…

    It usually is over-priced.
    Joe Flacco?
    Robert Meachem?
    Haynesworth '09?
    Remember O'donnell in '06?
    David Boston
    Alvin Harper
Should I continue? There ARE and always & will be BAD CONTRACTS and yes, the Market is always overpriced (you are trying to BUY a proven talent, that usually does not appreciate). This is a reason you are hearing Revis yell, type, and soon smoke signal his name! he is trying to create a market for himself. He's a hype man

    Clearly you aren't paying attention.

Look at the list of free agents at almost every position...overpaid Veterans.

The owners are driving salaries down. You could probably allege collusion if D.Smith didn't bargain for a rookie cap.

The assumptions in this thread are ridiculous.

ZOMG!!! Mevi$ wants his money!!! He wants elite QB money bro! Show me where that was ever even reported. And show me the competitive team in this flat-cap era that's going to give him 16 million per with over 50 mil guaranteed unless he absolutely goes out there and plays at 2009 form. At the very least can our organization have gone to him first and seen what it would've taken to get this done early on in the process before they apparently put it on broadcast that he was available?

And FURTHERMORE, what the fuck man? I thought when Pettine went to Buffalo Manish's leaks went with him. Wasn't a lower organizational profile part of the mandate for a new GM? So much for that!

The fact is letting him hit free agency is a risk I'm willing to take unless a team ponies up prime picks. Forgive me if a late first from either the Falcons or 9ers and a conditional pick that will wind up being outside the top 50 next year is enough to get me to totally cut bait and not gamble on Revis looking at a market that's topping out at 16 mil a year from a team that he doesn't want to go to. Throw in more guarantees and who's to say he can't be had in that 12-14 mil window. They'll get a compensatory third if he walks. At least for once they took a shot at keeping their own instead of dealing him and watching him win elsewhere as has happened throughout this organizations history.

    12-14? 10 % of the cap? For a CB?

    Muck Fevi$

BTW, I'd look for that number to get closer to 7 or 8, his walking back the Niner comments he made indicates that his agents finally told him, Al Davis died.

Here you go. He's expected to sign for more than Calvin Johnson/Mario Williams. Over 16 million a year is reaching elite qb money.

From 2001 to 2012 1st Team All-Pro QB's (AP, PFW and SN - any of these counts) won an average of 12.67 games a year. 1st Team All-Pro CB's won an average of 10.07.

This is why you don't even consider paying a CB as if he was a QB. The best CB's play for a marginal contender in the average year and the best QB's play for a Super Bowl contender.

A while ago,,,many people including myself said if Revis were to be traded it would be for ALOT ! I don't care if he is coming off surgery,,,they will line up for him,,,,,and I say if someone offers a boatload,,,,,,,boatload would be multiple picks and possibly a body ( QB ? ) then I would do it.
There are a lot of rumors out there right now,,,,,I say highest bidder lets hear from you !

Hate to see Revis go but he is as good as gone next year,,,team is going nowhere right now and good business would be to get value back for him while they can. Let the rumors continue !

How many picks make up this "boatload" in your Revis trade scenarios?

Ajax what would you want for him or should I ask is there any scenario that would make you okay with trading him ?

I have read rumors on the Net and we will not know what is actually offered but if what the eagles beat writers are reporting, Foles and the eagles 1 st and 3rd I think that's a good start , so I ask you what would it take ?

It has been reported that the Eagles want a 1st or 2nd for Foles, even if they would consider a 3rd for him then you are trying to say Revis will command a 1st and 2 3rds? You think that is a good start?

Their 1st and 3rd would probably be the best you could hope for and that would be a stretch.
