Thanks for the help and advice. I opened up the PS2 and blew all the dust out (it was filthy). I then cleaned the laser with some alcohol and cotton swab. This did the trick. It is working again and better than ever. It has stopped the skipping that it would do every now and then. I really appreciate you guys for helping.
It happened to mine last year I called sony and they fixed it for me for free I just had to pay for shipping.
When this happened to my sons playstation...I did a little searching..and it worked.
