And when you dive deeper, Barkley had the long TD run for 68 yards but then only had 38 yards on his other 17 carries for a measly 2.2 yard average. Take away Crowell's 62 yard TD run and he had 40 yards on only 9 carries for a 4.44 yard average.
I agree. I have been a harsh critic of Bowles in the past, but I truly hope that this is a sign that not only was the lack of depth and quality players part of the problem, but that he has learned and developed as a HC. He deserves kudos for last night.
He may get and deserve the credit for it, but I read that several Jets defenders commented that they knew by the formation and Stafford's hand signals what plays the Lions would be running. Someone (Bowles, Rodgers and/or defensive position coaches) deserves credit for that, and the players deserve credit for putting the work in in the film room and executing on the field.
I missed the first half due to work. Did Shepherd play? I don't see any stats for him at all in the game stats. How about Fatukasi? Did he see the field? I don't recall ever seeing them or hearing their names called in the 2nd half.
Well crap. That means the Jets D probably won't look this good again all season. Glad they were able to be diligent and execute, though.
Fatukasi was inactive, Shepard played, can't swear to his effectiveness. But Luvu played and actually made some plays!
Thanks! Did you notice that Luvu had covered his entire face in face black? LOL It cracked me up. Reminded me of that great Viking DT who did the same thing to try to intimidate his opponents.
Shepard wasn’t very noticeable, Anderson seemed to be in on every big play the D made though. Luvu looked great and played great.
