Jones will still be a Jet. WTH is wrong with some of you? This isn't a video game. The LAST thing we need to do is trade up again. Once is risky enough.
Have you not seen how we have been drafting the past couple years? We get the players we like, and we get rid of the ones that are a problem.
1) "as if someone like you can say that to me" - I didn't say anything. I WROTE that you have no credibility after posting that Thomas Jones (Last year's LEADING AFC Rusher) was not "very good at all". And guess what? You don't. (And yes, someone "like" me CAN write whatever the hell I want to write) 2) "He doesn't hit the hole hard, he doesn't have the speed to turn the corner, he doesn't have enough wiggle to escape from the would be takclers, rarely does he overpower anybody" - Again, he lead the AFC in rushing last year. Some of your observations are verifiably false and others are half-true, however, the point is, THEY ARE ALL IRRELEVANT because the guy was one of the most productive running backs in the league last year. The idea that he "isn't very good at all" is utterly preposterous. He's obviosly well above average. He may not be the best running back in the league but he's a very good player and I don't think you could find a football scout on the planet who would agree with some of your specific points on his particular attributes. 3) "He's a JAG. Just another Guy" - Just another guy who lead his conference in rushing (and was like second or something in ypc)????? You're an idiot. The guy may be replaceable but he's not "just another guy".
and what basis do you have for the assertion that Ryan won't stand for players asking for extensions. way to project. and playing the role of Rex Ryan in this thread...maynardsmyhero-uk. why not just be honest and say you don't want Rex Ryan to put up with players asking for extensions instead of pretending to know what he will or will not tolerate from players who just lead the league in their respective position.
MC is right, TJ goes down the second a member of the front 7 gets a hand on him. When he gets into the secondary he will make into the evening highlights by stiff arming a CB, but any contact with a LB and TJ hits the ground. Every once in a while he will beat the defense to the outside, but not often. TJ just gets the yards the blocking gets for him. He is VERY durable and I give him credit for that, but not that big, not that fast.
That might all be true, but how did he rank in terms of rushing yards compared to other players in the conference?
Sorry dude, but TJ is a quality JAG...an average NFL starting RB. Nothing even remotely special, although I will give him props for his durability.
TJ goes down easier than a crackwhore. He's a compiler, not a breakaway back and as such, will simply eat minutes and gain yards. If you're looking for flash, TJ isn't your guy. That being said, at his age, it might be a consideration to trade him since just like in Chicago, he's not happy anymore. Pay him? Not at his age I don't see it. I think the Jets will give him an extension/bonus that he'll likely never see. For some strange reason, the Jets FO never trade players that have real value. They simply release them..
I like Jones, but he is tradable, and we can look at Greene or Andre Brown so not a big deal if he leaves
I agree that he is "tradeable" because running back is EASILY the most replaceable position on the field. Having said that, I just don't get this fascination with trading TJ that so many people have on this message board. It's rather purplexing.
Average running backs don't lead their conferences in rushing and ypc. I agree that he isn't an elite player, however, he's obviously above average and deserves a better moniker than "just another back".
