which is why Im so excited....

if we can get average QB play from Geno in Chan's system or the same from Ryan Fitz, this team will be the 2015 version of last years Cardinals but with better QB play post Palmer injury...that team was going places, but they couldn't overcome to HUGE drop off in QB play...

I think Cimini said it best:

"Here's another way to view the draft: When Maccagnan was hired in January, he inherited six draft picks. (The Jets were shy one pick because of the Harvin trade.) He parlayed those picks into six drafted players, plus wide receiver Brandon Marshall, WR Devier Posey and RB Zac Stacy. A Veteran Performance by a Rookie General Manager"

I also like how he was very proactive. He was afraid he'd miss out on Petty in the 4th with the intel from Cleveland saying they wanted him... so he moved up and got him. He wanted Mauldin in the 3rd but knew he could move down and get him...

how many times did we see Idzik get played? He wanted Austin in 2013, only to see the Rams screw him over and move 1 spot above. He got played terribly last year in the deepest WR draft in years, people moved up and snagged guys away from us a lot in rounds 1-3. That's why the players he drafted were players that all fell to him... injuries being a major reason. He was reactive, not proactive.

Agree. Not too mention that they also overcame the loss of some key players on the defensive side of the ball yet remained extremely competitive. Bowles put them in a position to succeed. We have a winner.

Hopefully people will finally acknowledge tha Mauldin was the guy and the trade down was the smart move.

I don't think they traded down because they knew Mauldin would fall, like he was the only targeted player. Macc said in his interview with Fatcesser that they had a number of players grouped in that round that were still available when their pick came up so they decided that one of them would fall to a later pick, or something along those lines. If they had their hearts set on one player and traded back 12 spots for him they'd be idiots
