The 2 crappy teams we played we beat easily. Buf lost 2 two mediocre teams, we haven't lost to a medicore team yet.
Having played 3 weeks without Mangold and a very shaky line at best...these numbers are pretty good. Sanchez is a roller coaster though, so we must wait for the big drop. Maybe this is the year he smooths it all out. We'll see...
True, still a young season. As mentioned above, there were big changes made on offense this year and NOT for the better. The Bills have beaten the Cheifs who have only beaten Minny & Indy. Also the Raiders traveling cross country in a admittedly great come from behind victory. We haven't had the Raiders at home in years. Another miracle comeback against the Pats in which Brady was very un-Brady like. Your 2 losses were away also, Cincy is a team that you should've certainly beaten and the Giants are average at best, you just happened to face them after a embarrassing loss the Hawks. The Chargers are in the same boat in beating weaker teams, 4 wins out of 5 where the 4 beaten teams have a combined record of 4 and 21. Since the NY market is amplified we don't hear has thrown 6 TDs and 7 INTs in 5 games, as well as 4 fumbles. The media focuses on Sanchez.
Without turning Sunday into the be all end of all of an entire season, it is a big game besides needing a win before the bye. It's a home game against a team that is probably on or close to the realistic level of the Jets. Not a gimme like the Jags and Phins, not a reach like Baltimore and NE on the road. Not crucial in terms of an absolutely have-to-have game but it's gonna kind of tell you if there really is hope for them or not.
Take the Ravens game out, because the OL gave him less than 2.5 seconds on every drop back. If you need the link I'll give it to you. And then when you take the rest of his att/comp, he's over 60% He's doing well save for the 1st quarter, and I think its going to get a lot better later on in the year.
Can I have that link? Not because I don't believe you, I do, I'd just like it to shut up some of the hatahz
He's not playing better, there are factors but #s don't tell the whole story. He has not been as good so far this year.
http://www.thejetsblog.com/2011/10/05/bga-extra-jets-at-ravens/ The BGAs from thejetsblog.com always have a wealth of information.
Yes, the factors I gave, OL and WR corps are why he has to make more out of nothing, but he's still at a better level than last year. The 1st quarter issues are still glaring. But we all know eveyone doesn't help. The dropped passes, the dead running game, and the bad throws as well.
I will buy that as long as it is put in the context that rest of the team is playing worse overall as well.
When you take into account that he's doing this with less. Starting out last year Braylon and Cotch were both key to Sanchez being successful to start the year. As well as better protection and a actual run game. Now he's out of sync with new receivers and I don't blame him as much for Plax's poor showing as I do blame Plax. Our first 3 games this year Sanchez completed 59.1%, 70.8%, 61.4% of his passes and throwing 6 TDs and 4 INTs. On a different note: I think Rex reinserted the Ground & Pound in a panic after the Raven game. A decision I do not agree with. Even if this season did turn out to be 9-7 or 8-8 I would've rather have had Sanchez get the time and role as the real weapon on offense. They're still handling him with kid gloves and it's only hurting him. The only way he'll learn is to do it, so let him do it.
I think Rex reinserted the Ground & Pound because he doesn't trust Schotty or Sanchez at this point. I think the Jets best posture moving forward, right through their eventual Super Bowl run, is going to be in a balanced offense that runs more than most teams do. It's still a very good paradigm for success in the NFL at this point. Nobody runs way and hides from the kind of defense that Rex Ryan wants to build. He doesn't have all the personnel yet to run it, notably lacking a strong pass-rushing linebacker and a ball-hawking safety, but he's trying to get there. Once you get to the point where opposing offenses are somewhat crippled by the defense, what you want to pair that with is a clock-controlling offense that can strike quickly when needed and that performs well in tight games at the end. That's what the Jets want to get to and Mark Sanchez is about as good a fit for it as any young QB the Jets might happen to find down the road. He's good under pressure at the end, he's willing to take shots down the field and he's also willing to submerge his ego and just run the offense when that's what they need him to do. It's only a bit into year three and we've already seen all of that in play. Now Rex just needs to build his defense and the Jets need to solidify the line and give Sanchez some continuity with his receivers. That's the path to the Super Bowl. Looking for Peyton Manning Two is the path to 40 more years in the wilderness.
Yeah, I think if it's for the sake of him getting real reps with the training wheels off Jet fans would be a little more forgiving of the growing pains. It's the fact that we have to live with Sanchez's mistakes that are seemingly building for no kind of future whatsoever.
absolutely. it was stupid. against the worst passing D you all of a sudden decide to institute ground and pound? it could have waited a week. rex was being stubborn without thinking about the matchup
