I do not think it’s a good idea to commit to needing X position in X round. There are All Pro players found all over the draft. @blackssmagic mentioned Justin Houston. Elvis Dumervil comes to mind. Cameron Wake was a UDFA and Everson Griffen a 4th rounder.
Thats just it, Scouts and the Scouting staff in general need to get on it. Really good players can be found all over throughout the draft. I am sick if hearing about the Idiot (Idzick) 12 and everything Mac draft fails. I personally think that this is a make or break draft for us.
Over any other position? Ya. But the players have to be there, of course. So all things being equal, yes, JD is drafting men for the trenches. But I get say, after his first oline pick, there just isn't another oline pick worthy of a 1st or 2nd round pick. He's not gonna reach (too far). So if the trench players he really wants just aren't there at his next pick, he'll probably trade down, and get more picks for the other 20 positions of need. I get there may be a superstar WR he just can't pass up, but it's gonna kill him to put off his trench building for another year.
