No one wanted to see Revis go... but the reality is, it was the right move. and it did have some positives: We freed up a TON of cap space. money that can go towards filling holes We got a draft pick and reinvested it elsewhere on defense We dont have the headache of hold outs every year from him 16M in cap space goes a long way. our secondary should still be strong when all is said and done. defensively we can be as good or better then we were with revis IMO ina couple years. we didint get a pass rusher, but no reason we cant draft or sign one next year
Day 1 was awesome, day two sucked. What I want to make Day three exciting is Swope, if we grab him in the 5th round that would be awesome. Speed for the outside, has quickness for the insdie and a very shifty receiver. He would be the new Chrebet, but faster. Chrebet is one of my top Jets ever next to Kyle Clifton and we need that average looking over achiever. Get me Swope and I won't hate wasting the 2nd round pick as much. It would give me someone whos jersey I would actually buy.
The giants and Seattle helped us figure out the solution, get to the QB with 4 pass rushers and disrupt his pocket.
Last season we ranked 25th in stopping the run. It really can't get any worse than that. The most fun part of this season will be when Geno smith takes the field and we see if there's something there that shows us he can be the QB of the future. If not, then we must lose as many games as possible in order to get a top 5 pick and put us in position to draft a potential franchise QB.
I have to say after thinking about it... I think we are going to have a pretty damn good team this season. We have a lot of young defensive pieces Rex can work with. And the Offense can only get better from last season.
Tanny would have forced the issue, and overpaid somebody at linebacker making us have problems down the road. It looks like Antwan Barnes and Pace will be our outside LBs/passrushers for now. Both are worth their value because we got them for nothing have to pay them little. As for the safeties, I really believe that Rex Ryan does not find them to be a priority in his defense. Given that last year was the only time we've had 2 great safeties on the field under him. You know he likes his CBs anyway.
Milliner is good. Richardson could be good, but there were so many more pressing needs. Everybody else they drafted sucks.
I do not care how good Revis was/is, he wants $16mil a year, that is wayyy to much to pay a secondary player, heck any player who is not a QB.
He's not here to hanbdle anything. He's just the newest act and maybe the newest Tatoo for Rex. He is not a cold and wind QB, plus he sucks at reading defenses, in college he was hand fed like a baby.
draft i gotta disagree with you love our day 1 picks.. im just nervous about geno but im pulling for him.. been looking at our UDFA and rontez miles sticks out he has a game very similar to laron landry from what i seen in the highlights.. they are highlights of course but it was very impressive he cracks heads. gonna keep an eye on him during training camp thats for sure.
Even not being so sure about Geno...Idzik had one common thing with a lot of his picks. When you read breakdowns about them the word passion sums up so many players drafted. Will some of these guys bust? You never know...but its not going to be because of effort. From Richardson to Winters to Milliner...all these guys love to play the game and have great motors....never taking a down off. Thats nice to hear about draft picks never taking a down off compared to the past. Very excited for this season and If G.S. ends up being a good NFL QB...I think we will look back on Idziks first draft saying job well done. With that said, Sanchez has to go. It makes no sense being here. Having Sanchez around is like inviting an ex girlfriend you were banging to your wedding. Sanchez has his fingerprints all over this organization and he would be a bigger distraction than even Tebow at this point. Just eat it and move on.
i didn't see many schoolgirls, most people thought it was bonehead to move up and , like the dudes on tv in radio hall, was not cheering the pick at the time.
What evidence do you have to suggest Rex wouldn't give it to the best person? Rex wants to win. Sometimes I just scratch my head in disbelief when I read nonsense like this.
Exactly, Sanchez wasn't even technically the starter last year. I think he was more Anti-Tebow at that point than Pro-Sanchez.
No argument here on what you said. It's all true. I just hate letting elite talent go, but I understand why it happened.
