Getting Holmes and Hill back healthy with Kerley and adding a deep threat receiver via free agency (Dwayne Bowe, Jerome Simpson) adding o line depth through the draft could be ways to "fix the offense in one offseason"

    Got Wilk?

Guy is really developing. 1 on 1 and vs double teams.

Yeah I was very optimistic about him coming out of Temple - but you never know - GREAT draft pick there at 30th. I give Rex & Mike Pettine the credit on that.

Mangold is not a product of the Ryan era. He was drafted a few years before Ryan was with the team--2006 I think. Truth is that Mangold and the Brick have hit their peak and will likely start to show some age soon given the typical career in the NFL. I can't believe that we will need to talk about the need to start grooming their replacements within a few years.

I believe that the people who call the shots on draft day vary from team to team. But usually its the coach/GM. But of course the owner has a huge part if he likes... I think it really depends on the kind of owner you have. Like if you have jerry jones for example

Maybe... but D'brick is having his bet season this year, at least statistically
and good NFL centers play forever

Where are you coming up with the cap space to sign a receiver? We need to cut 1/2 of our Startign LBers to get under the cap with a minimum ammount to work with. We'll have around 10 mill to add about 15 players.

Word, thanks for answering my question.

Q and Wilk have combined for 7 sacks, 3FFs, and tons of TFLs on the season (I can't find the actual number.) Some people are going to call that mediocre, but it's important to point out that they really are mostly there eat up blocks, and they have no help. DeMarcus Ware (great as he is) owes a lot of success to Spencer and Ratliff.

That's why Im so set on Mingo. We're an OLB and a FS away from being a dominant defense again.

The offense is just too big of a project to try and fix in one offseason.

Then those people probably don't understand defense. If I'm not mistaken 3-4 d-linemen aren't supposed to get sacks, the linebackers are, which means that is even more impressive. Anybody who says Wilkerson is mediocre is either stupid or doesn't watch the games.

He's been great. I hope that Coples can learn from him & improve to the point that this time next year he too is doing as well. On a team jonesing for some good news, he's been excellent.

He was oneb if my favorite players in the draft, along with Justin Houston. It's hard to find the kind of athleticism wilk has in such a large guy.

Coples has been coming on real strong. Keep an eye on him. These two are going to cause fits for opposing teams on the inside for a number of years.

.... And he is still not seeing over 50% of the snaps on defense. Why Rex is not working him in more is one of the more disappointing things of this season to me.

I'm sure they are bringing him along slowly (still). I was able to check out some of the game again last night again, and instead of usual bull-rush / block and occupy, him and Wilkerson actually worked together and did some plays in unison to get to the QB. I guess they call it stunt moves or whatever.

I want to see more of that on 3rd down passing plays. That was pretty cool to watch

Motron has been great and he just keeps improving. Hasselbeck will indeed be having a face to face meeting with him on more than one occasion.

The talented defensive line and defense in general is why I would hate this team to go full rebuild mode. If we manage to get the offense just to a competent level by next year, we're a playoff team again based on the defense alone. Of course, that is contingent on Revis coming back and being Revis.
