Im sure the Jets would have a full evaluation before signing him. I guarantee you if he came on to a team as positive as this one he would not go the same route again.
I'm all aboard the Fairley wagon, have been since January, but I'm starting to think some of his success is due to his age. Don't get me wrong, he's destroyed people, but him being the same age as a redshirt Senior as a Junior may have something to do with it. He's closer to his prime than his competition, which makes me think he will peak faster in the NFL. That being said, I still wouldn't pass him up if he was sitting there, I'll take 5 years of dominance, then 5 years of average...
I'm a huge Sash fan, but I never see him in rankings. Do you think he fits at FS or SS and if he declares, where do you think Sash goes? I'll be pretty furious if we don't take a FS with one of our top 2 picks. McDaniel would be a good pick IMO, as would Moore or Williams.
Unfortunately, the Colts re-signed him in June. Free safety is a position I'd like to see us address before the draft, though. We might not even have a 2nd round pick so I'd like us to focus on the front 7.
Both McDaniel and Moore have struggled horribly in coverage this year. Deunta Williams finally gets to show what he can do now that he's not suspended anymore.
There are a LOT of guys that are older than we'd expect when it comes to college athletes. A great majority of the players in next year's draft will be 23 when they're playing their rookie seasons. Ndamukong Suh was even slightly older last year than Fairley is this year. AJ Green is already 22, and will be 23 when he starts training camp with his NFL team, and he's supposed to be a TRUE junior. As I look through some player ages, it's getting pretty fascinating. Ryan Broyles will be 23 by the time his academic true junior year is over. What's funny is that the only school that seems to have all their guys at the right age is Alabama, so congrats.
At this point, I'll take it as a victory! I might go have a look myself, go back a few years and look. It may/may not affect players at all...
How has Herzlich looked so far this season? I'm a huge fan of his toughness, but I would like to know if all the attention he's been getting recently is because of his (continued) excellent play, or his recovery from cancer.
If the Jets ended up selecting Mark Herzlich in the middle rounds, I'd be the first fan in line for his jersey. I don't see how anyone could dislike a player like Herzlich. He's been through hell and back fighting cancer. Before he was diagnosed with cancer, Herzlich was a guaranteed first rounder. I think all of the attention he's been getting this season is mix between his play and his comeback from the disease. It's a hell of story. He was the best defender in the ACC one day and battling cancer the next. As sad as it is to think about, his previous health issues will more than likely hurt his draft stock a bit, but he'll get his shot - someone will draft him because he's smart, tough, inspirational player that has all of the tools to succeed at the next level.
I love Nate Irving as a player. The NC State defense is a completely different team without him in the lineup as I've witnessed watching their games over the past few years. I brought him up in a thread or started a thread about him with no response a little while ago but got no responses.
