Eh, whatever helps you get over the fact that he still sucks. If these were the hash marks by the sideline, you'd see the 10, 20, 30 yard markings near them (or off in the distance). Therefore, I tend to think this play took place somewhere between in the middle of the field. Sorry, I think you're just gonna have to accept the fact that Glady's got pwned by Sellers.
I thought he had a good retort, but you are right; we are looking at the right hash marks in the middle of the field. Hopefully, we will see a lot less of this in the coming season.
I hope so. I know this may piss people off because of the amount of money we have wrapped up on Glady's but if he manages to get 5 measly sacks next year, I'd be content. The weak ass tackles gotta go, and he needs to play with a mean streak as well.
Totally agreed. I am not looking for pro-bowl, but I want him clearly out of the swirl of the other bowl as well.
0:25-0:34 VG definitely looked lost out there and really made you wonder about playing in the NFL. But I think he makes a great point here albeit before the start of last season. Putting aside his implausibly lack of athletic ability, Mangini had other ideas about bringing him along which I believe contributed to his slow season. If he put his goals on the backburner for the sake of the team maybe he needs to re-evaluate his approach to the game which I think he has already done. He's working out seperately which says to me he's worried about it. I'll give him credit for being as concerned as we are. He may have lost a year being overwhelmed into the NFL but I think he has a shot to be let loose in Rex's system. The shock is over. But he needs to start earning his 5-year, $50 million contract (with $21 million in guaranteed money). He knows it and he has to start showing up, starting in camp. What troubles me about the guy is that after we drafted him last year we got all these articles about what a fast learner he was and how he would develop quickly. Yet on the field he looked confused the entire season.
Man I hope your wrong. But judging his falloff from college, if you can call it that, that could be believable.
Nice try, but no. If it was in the middle of the field you would see the goalpost in the background. The painted numbers at Giants Stadium are 10 yards off the sidelines and the camera angle is nowhere near sharp enough to allow you to see any numbers downfield. This particular play clearly took place along the sideline. I'm not defending Gholston's performance last season, but be fair. The jury is still out on this guy. Supposedly, VG has been working his ass off and if anyone can light a fire under him and get him going in the right direction, it's Rex. It's absolutely amazing to me how so many people who consider themselves Jets fans get satisfaction from watching one of our guys do poorly.
Lets put you guys out of your misery.... 2-8-NYJ 45 (13:44) 15-T.Collins pass short right to 45-M.Sellers to NYJ 43 for 2 yards (56-V.Gholston). http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/playb...y_by_play&season=2008&week=PRE2&override=true
...and that proves what? The discussion is not about what yardline the play occurred on. It is about whether the play occurred in the open field or along the sideline.
I still don't see it. The FG post wouldn't be in the background if this took place in the middle of the field because of the angle the picture was taken. Seeing that it was a 2-yard gain it could very well be near the sidelines but I would think you'd at least see the yard numbers off in some distance. Who cares. It's obviously clear by now this picture was photo-chopped to make it seem like I'm wrong, but I'm not, because I'm never wrong. In all seriousness tho, you're wrong about the last sentence in your post. I do not get any satisfaction whatsoever from watching our sixth pick whom we've invested a shitload of money on sucking. None. I've stated in the past that I'm willing to give him a pass last year because he was learning the position/was used wrong/couldn't adjust to Mangini's schemes/(fill in whatever excuse you'd like here). Great. In a previous post, I mentioned what I expect next year from him. If he can accomplish that (which I consider the bare minimum) I can assure you I will not join the "Gholston is a Bust" mob that I'm sure we'll see around here next year.
not trying to compare the 2 but a lot of people knocked Mario Williams when they drafted him and he sucked the 1st few seasons and now he a beast. so give the man time
1 of 2 tackles to be more specific sir. I think the other tackle came the play before this one. Does this guy take off plays, or what?
OK, I think you are right. I do not get any satisfaction out of VG doing bad. I definitely want him to come out of nowhere and explode onto the football scene this year, it is just that after last year, frustration had set in somewhat - with me.
