I really don't think so. All these reports about Pennington being cut, you have to believe that the Jets will take a qb in the first round. You can't pass when you have three top prospects available (even though I'm not a fan of Cutler).

I desperately want a franchise QB, but if we had a chance at Reggie I want him...

I think the cut news could easily be explained as a negotiating tactic to force Penny's move, if we get the #1 pick it has to be for Reggie

There is no way you can pass on two of the best qb prospects to enter the draft in a very long time, when your in desperate need for a healthy qb.

Bush is nice, but he is not even an every down player.

    Remember the 1999 draft?

    1. Tim Couch
    2. Donovan McNabb
    3. Akili Smith

Only 1 of them is still in the league. Taking a QB is always a risk, especially in the first round.

How is Bush not an every down player? Why do people make such drastic assumptions? Bush runs the ball, catches the ball, and returns kicks. He probably won't be the best short yardage back, but if he adds 10 pounds he will be fine. What else would you want him to do?

Just because White took carries does not mean Bush couldn't have played the entire game. They utilized both of them very well. Bush is going to be similar to Ladainian. He will be able to carry a team.

Draft picks are always a gamble. Its going to come down to whether we need a QB or not. If Penny is gone, we're taking a QB. At least thats what I think.

Not from what I've been hearing, there is a reason that even with the "two best qb prospects to enter the draft in a very long time" that Bush has been known as the #1 prospect on the board still. He is a once-in-a-decade prospect, the last thing that the Jets need is to be completely buried by the press again.

#1 spot get Bush. Trade Abe to Sandy for Rivers and #2 you get your OT.

    1. It will never happen
    2. The jets don't want leinart
    3. Even if the jets did want leinart, they would trade to the 2 spot, not 1.

I'm not so sure. The risk of finding a lemon QB in the first round especially early on is probably higher than any other position. The Jets are going to need to fill some holes and are going to sign a vet for next season anyways. I have a feeling the Jets are definately not going to draft a QB with such a high pick...call it a hunch.

    1. You don't know that
    2. How do you know? (Jay Fielder)
    3. What if the Saints weren't interested in moving to the #4 spot?

Maybe some people feel this way, but running backs are a dime a dozen. Their success is based on the offensive scheme they play in (see Denver's playbook). The Jets need a QB that can lead them to a win even when some players are injured. Also, the Jets need a QB that is not often injured. Leinart is the best QB in the 2006 draft because of his winning %, leadership skills & intangibles. They simply cannot pass on him.

I agree... there is no way that we can give up the nec. compensation to move up to the one slot and not draft Reggie Bush... A back like that is a surefire hit and only comes along once every five years... No one can gaurantee whether Lienart/Young, etc will be an NFL star... I think Bush is as close to a gaurantee as you can get...

one of the espn insiders reported . that brewing rumours around the league that the jets are trying to trade up.

it was more speculation than anything . but here is the kiicker it seems the jets might have more intrest in lienart than bush.( i personally dont see the jets passing on bush if they move up.)

It was on the stephen A smith show they always talk jets football atleast more so lately

Sure we will, you don't have to have the first overall draft pick for a QB, like I said the Jets would be killed for it and it wouldn't make sense trading up for the 1 if it wasn't for Bush who could be a franchise RB, which aren't a dime a dozen, who could play as a WR as well as KR/PR if we wanted him to be, also everything you said about what the RBs depend on could be said about QBs, without the good offensive scheme the QB wouldn't do well either

i posted this thread, and with alot of ppl saying they would take bush i cant help think that bush reminds me of peter warrick in his college yrs. Whoever said its a 0.01% chance of happening, think about it..........Houston has Carr at QB(underated IMO, just a bad OL) and at RB they have Dominic Davis who is a very good back, they dont necessarily need Bush. What they desperately need is an OL and DBrick is a piece to that puzzle. And by the way i am not Peter North LOL....

If the Jets move up to 1.1, and don't take Bush, I'll hang myself with my Al Toon jersey
