I said it already and I'll say it again. We don't have a fucking pussy for a coach anymore. We've been a franchise consigned to letting a coach with no balls run this team. This man has, and I hate to throw the comparisons around, Bill Parcells written all over him. As Jet fans, we've seen it all. Once we get a lead, CONSERVATIVE TIME. Today. Blitzing consistently with the lead, passing with the lead. Continuing to use Leon with the lead. The Ravens barely beat KC today. This man has great coach written all over him, and watching the press conference, no one looked giddy about anything. They expected it. Defense played like they wanted to kill EVERYONE, not just the guy with the ball. You have to love this defense, but first of all, you have to love the cajones on this coach and his team.

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!! and to think we were missing two starters! i was worried at first wondering if Rex would have enough schemes to get us through the season but his history speaks for itself. we have all the components the Ravens had the year they won the superbowl plus we have a qb that they lacked that year. im optimistic.

He's also worth about one de-helmeting hit per game. I have never seen so many helmets fly off the heads of blockers and ball carriers.

This was a fun game to watch all around. On defense I think you can count missed tackles on a couple of fingers. Even when they did miss a tackle they caused a fumble. Gholston had three tackles!

With Ellis back in the mis next week and Pace back in 3 games this defense has potential to be impressive this year. The offensive line not allowing a sack today was great - Sanchez has amazing pocket presence for a rookie. His footwork to slide around the pressure, find throwing lanes, and make throws shows why he was the 5th pick.

This was a top offense last year - top WR 2nd best RB in the AFC and they never got going. Next week is a huge measuring stick at home against the Pats. Are we for real or still looking for wild card or bust.

    My four beasts:

Jenkins - man handling the Texans. Even though just one tackle, he was all over Schaub all day long

Harris - all over the field making plays, QB pressures and sack

Revis - played about a perfect game against the leagues top 3 WR

Sheppard - I know a lot of us don't like him, but I thought he was awesome today, making a handful of excellent plays including a pick. I didn't see a pass interference, was there one?

I didn't see a lot of Bart Scott, probably cuz I didn't pay a lot of attention to him. And Jamaal Westerman??? A sack in his first game and Gholston has already been on the team for 17 games with no sack? Wow. I mean Gholston was ok today, but Westerman seems to be the Jets version of Rexy's Bart Scott, an undrafted gem. Lets hope he can develop in to a starting talent by next yr.

I was highly impressed with our D today. Totally shutting down the Texans (7 pts were off a pick 6), and we didn't even have two of our starters. I can't imagine what Brady will be put in to next wk. The Texans supposedly are an offensive team with an explosive offense, but still get shut out by team with 9 starters and two backups. I can't wait to see how Brady does tomorrow and how we make him taste the dirt next wk!

I was enjoying this game from start to finish. The defense had 11 monsters on the field wanting to get the QB as much as possible and of course shutting down the WR's. Blitz, after blitz, after blitz. They looked great and a fabulous start to the Rex Ryan & Mark Sanchez era in Jets history.

Agree with pretty much everything in this thread. Jenkins was an absolute beast today. You can't just look at the stats and decide who had a good game. The entire D played together as a team today to totally contain and shut down everything the Texans wanted to do. They demolished a veteran Texans OL. Shut down All Pro WR & TE. This was 11 guys doing their jobs with ferocity and intensity and this was Rex Ryan calling a defensive game plan that was just a joy to behold. Great Team Defensive Effort. Obviously it starts with Jenkins, Scott, Harris & Rhodes and Revis. But all our guys were awesome today.

Yup, Leonhard had some good plays aswell. Bryan Thomas was in on a few plays too. Lito was excellent IMO. Westerman showed promise and Devito/Pouha did a decent enough job backing up Ellis.

I know we showed an agressive defense today, but Im just wondering, if we play like this, wouldn't our D tire near the end of the season? Just curious, so I hope we rotate guys when we have a firm grip on the game like today.

It's only 1 game but I don't think I have EVER seen a more physical Jets defense. This game remonded me of another Houston game- The BUDDY Ryan punch game w/ the way the Houston D dominated us in the 1993 finale at the Astrodome.

While I'm not going to go crazy over the Defensive performance against the Texans , I'm hopeful that we can do this to the Patriots and then Ill go ape shit! All and all Iv never been that impressed as I was yesterday. We Actually had a pass rush , with two key guys missing to boot.

How about Westerman, too! What a nice find!

Gholston should hang out with him instead of LT.

Shouldn't go crazy over it but keep in mind they had the 3rd best offense in the league playing at home last year. This was a true ass-whooping of a good offensive team.

GH, in another thread, I've already predicted Westerman to start taking minutes away from Gholston before this season is over and if Strickland keeps on playing like this, Lowery might have to start thinking about tweeting as well.

Westerman and Strickland might be the two sleepers of this year's draft!!

No because of Time of Posession, We had fresh legs all game on d because the O kept the ball for like 2/3 of the game. That will not happen every game but the better this o does the better it is for our defense.
