Sorry for distracting the thread but you live off petty arguements.

Morris Claiborne sucks. Kyle Wilson sucks.

Morris has been forced to play alot of zone, but would benefit playing more press man.
Wilson can't turn his head around, and would benefit from a zone heavy system.

This would be a nice change of scenery for both of them.

Yes. But no way that would happen. Cowboys would be looking for at least a conditional 3rd.

I'm always down for a trash for trash trade especially if it means no more Kyle Wilson but as stated before there's no way the Cowboys would do it especially considering it would essentially be like Jerry admitting he was wrong

And none of them came after he got himself overly involved with the team and fired the people that got him the 3 rings.

Regarding the JJ comment, Woody has owned the Jets since 2000. The last Superbowl the Cowboys appeared in was 1995.

And just to put the final Kabosh on the JJ argument (not saying woody is a great owner).
since 1996 the Cowboys have been in the playoffs 7 times.
Since 2000 the Jets have been in the playoffs 6 times.
Since 2000 the Cowboys have been in the playoffs 4 times.
the Jets have actually been more successful under Woody than the Cowboys have been under JJ for the past 15 years. (mind you that's not saying a whole lot).
Oh last nail. The Jets are 6-6 in the post season.
Cowboys? 1-4 since 2000 and 2-7 since 1996....ARE YOU REALLY SURE ABOUT JJ?

That true but Jones purchased the Cowboys in 1989. He had 3 SB wins in 6 years. The bottom line is if Jimmy Johnson did draft all those players it was Jerry Jones who hired him.

And that last superbowl came 20 years ago. Who cares what someone did 20 years ago, the fact the team has floundered since Jerry dumped Jimmy says it all....

It's true that it was Jerry that intitially hired Jimmy, it's also true that since then they havent done anything...translation, he made a lucky initial hire.

I'm very sure. At this point in time Jerry Jones will be in HOF. Woody not even close to it.

We both know luck is part of it. All we have to do is look at the Pats and Kraft.

Jimmy Johnson engineered and pulled off the Herschel Walker deal. Not Jerry Jones, Jimmy Johnson. That's why the Cowboys dynasty happened. That trade essentially brought Emmitt Smith, Darren Woodson and Russell Maryland to the Cowboys. Only Woodson was drafted directly with a pick from the deal. The ammo that the extra picks provided was used to trade up for Emmitt Smith and Russell Maryland. The trades were made by Jimmy Johnson. The reason Johnson left the Cowboys was that Jones thought he was getting too much credit for their success. He installed Barry Switzer and won a Super Bowl with the team Johnson put together plus Deion Sanders. Then the Cowboys declined because Jones was nowhere near as good a talent evaluator or horse trader as Johnson.

Johnson initially tried to trade Michael Irvin to the Raiders for a bunch of picks and was talked out of it by Al Davis who asked the simple question "who is going to catch the football for you?" Then he made the decision to trade Walker to the VIkings and a dynasty was born. Davis wouldn't have given that kind of advice to most people. He obviously respected Johnson and wanted to see him do well in the NFC.

Kraft knew to hold on to a good thing and leave the football decisions to football people.
Jerry? Nope. Since jerry took the lead role the Cowboys haven't been anything but a sideshow.

Why is this even a thread?

Should we trade for [insert any player in the league here] is a worthwhile discussion?

I agree Jones ego was reason for all that, but he should still get all the credit for hiring Johnson and winning those SB's.

For the Hire yes, but if you're going to give him credit for that then you have to give him full credit for the dismal performance of the team for the other 3/4 of the time he's owned the team. It would be more impressive if the 3 superbowl rings had come spread over a number of years, as it is they rolled the dice and won the powerball and had one run of very good luck and has been a buffoon ever afterwards. Do you really give credit for luck?

Yes Jones should get full credit for other 3/4 of the shit years. Yes you should give credit to luck. Everybody gives Kraft and BB the credit for Tom Brady and we all know they got lucky with him.
