And after Richardson was suspended in early July I posted I hope this make him a little humble....boy, was I wrong!
I was thinking more along the lines of what if the gun shifts and winds up under the brake pedal or somesuch? I get very paranoid when I realize that anything has rolled out from under the driver's seat and is in the vicinity of one of the pedals. It's just too easy for it to get somewhere that you can't do something that you need to do right now.
I'm in no way down playing the speeding and resisting arrest but to me the biggest red flag in all this is he was smoking again. Two weeks after that suspension was announced he was at it again. Only that the cops couldn't prove it in a court of law he would be sitting for a year. Make no mistake at some stage he will sit for a year because he has neither the will power or the intelligence to stay away from the weed. I'm thinking that Richardson jersey I brought back from ny may never see the light of day again
I think at this point most fans will give him room to earn their fandom again, to "forgive and move on" not too many will take that tack.
Suspending him for the whole year is absolutely the right thing for the Jets to do. It would send a clear message to Richardson and to the rest of the Jets players that there's a new sheriff in town and he's not putting up with this kind of stupid shit. I think the only chance of getting through to that effing dumbass Richardson is to get his attention by suspending him for a year and costing him his contract money for this season.
Exactly, to reach for a gun, even to push it under the seat or mat, when you are pulled over is insane.
He is guaranteed not to make too many plays from the bench or from home this year. He screwed up royally.
Anyone remember his "I'm not a loser" speech from last season? Newsflash Sheldon --- YOU'RE A FUCKING LOSER I say cut his stupid, arrogant ass tomorrow, start the Leonard Williams Era, and never look back.
Yea brillant idea.....I swear we now live in the "Overreacting" era these days .Yea Sheldon was reckless and stupid in his decision making skills but cut him and not look back?Don't think so buddy
I say let this play out. If Sheldon gets significant penalties from the NFL (1 year ban, etc.) then release him. However, I don't think that will happen. Let him play on the team for his remaining contract years and then move on from him. Let him go into Free Agency. Pay Mo Wilkerson and pay Damon Harrison and let the past be the past. They can only afford so many expensive D lineman anyways.
That's probably the biggest upset for me. This was after he promised he would never smoke again. Clearly he doesn't learn. Someone like that shouldn't be paid a heap of money...that's how you get into cap trouble.
