Moore would be fine if overall our line was better, as he was in 04. The OL priorities should be RT, LG & Brick becoming the dominant LT he is supposed to become, not nessasarily in that order.
I dont know what games some of you are watching, but Moore has been good. Nothing great but he has been very solid. Last year he was below average and had some horrible games, but had some pretty average or good games last year. In 04 he was good, with a good O-Line around him. Overall he is a solid guard, nothing great, but starting material, and if he had a better RT next to him also, he would do very well. Also D'Brick has been doing well also. We need a really good LG next year, and a RT to groom.
well they must see something in him! he is going to start for the next couple of years...shoot me in the face...moore the leader of our OLINE OUCH!
"Quiet", as in the ref's whistle isn't blowing in his direction every game anymore? not good when the "leader" of the o-line SUCKS! :shit:
I hate to admit but we are no longer allowed to take you seriously on any matters involving offensive lines. Your statement could not be more wrong even if you tried.
I just want to say this. It is easy to say Mangold is great. I think he is going to be. However anyone watching this year and saying he is playing the best out of anyone on this offensive line and that he is great in the same sentence quite frankly should watch the line closer. I suppose that is how players are judged, on reputation. A hell of a lot of pressure has come through the middle this year. There is no player on this line that has been "great", not a single one. I hate to sound like a broken record on this....... Until there is better LG play Mangold is not going to be "great" and Brick is going to "struggle". The right side has been horrible handling blitzes as evidenced by the Baltimore game. Then the pocket has been breaking down because of pressure in the middle. The left side has been ok. When they stack the line there, it is impossible for Brick to handle 3 guys because of the turnstile next to him. Clarke has been improving to be sure. However anyone playing that horrid has nowhere to go but up. The Dolphin game was a drastic improvement. That being said, they do not have the d-line that Baltimore and Ne has, even including Jason Taylor.
ITA. Mangold has not been enarly as good this year, so far, as last. And the large part of that is having to look over his left shoulder, instead of concentrating on one thing. I do wish, if they were going to just go ahead and play someone thats not very good, that they would bite the whole bullet, and play Bender, who has more upside than AC.
One thing i have said a few times is that the loss of kendall will affect Mangold and the OL by forcing Mangold to make the OL calls. Kendall was really the one doing it last year, which Mangold has acknowledged. So now we have a soph making the linecalls, who doesnt have Kendall as his safety net. Plus, as you said, he is looking over his left shoulder instead of focusing on one thing.
If your offensive line looked like this: LT-decent, LG-hole, C-GOD, RG-hole, RT-hole, there'd be a lot of pressure coming up the middle. Ok, now just replace GOD in the middle with Mangold and you have the Jet's current situation.
Mangold is playing better than last year. He's a lot stronger and is actually moving people about. He dominated Vince Wilfork in week 1,actually pushing him about the field. The pressure up the middle came from Clarke who was unable to handle stunts.Week 2 the pressure came from the edges not the middle, think Corey Ivy blitzing form the nickel and Landrey blitzing from the safety position.
