*SIGH*...... Mannnn, that's just gotta' be 1 of the most pathetic rec'ing corps in all of pro football! ......couple that with doomed, 5th-year "rookie", Mark "The Mistake" Sanchez @ qb......:sad::sad:! I hope I'm wrong! I hope they go all "BALLS OUT"!! I hope.....!
Edwards was notorious for dropping sure arches in his first two years....go figure. Now we are salivating over the guy.
Hopefully we keep Spadola on the scout team. His odds of making the active roster just dropped dramatically.
That's possible, but I still think we will see up to 7 active roster spots for WR to start the season.
P Cutting Spadola would surprise you more than if we cut Hill or Holmes, or did you just leave them out since they are essentially 100% locks (Holmes. Softly because of his contract)
oh, i know. I wasn't really trying to trash him or anything. He became a very reliable receiver for us and made some huge plays in big spots. edit: I will always laugh about that drop in Canada, though.
Wouldn't it be kinda funny if Edwards made the team, Holmes got healthy, and they became our #1 and #2 again? (With Kerley in the slot, instead of Cotchery)
It's funny. I thought about this the other day. After the Jets ended their 2010/11 season, if some future space man had come here and said that in 2013 the Jets would have the following receiving corps: Holmes Braylon a late round excellent slot man a second round streaker with a ton of potential a handful of very promising fringe players ... who the hell would have complained?
He does know we play the Bengals this year right?... I will be keeping a close eye on this riveting battle for our 4th or 5th WR spot. This should be the move that puts us over the top and in the playoffs.
please go on....from a player perspecive, where am I overstating? WasClyde GATES ANYTHING BUT TERRIBLE LAST YEAR? Is Braylon Edwards NOT slow as molasses ? Is Santonio's foot not a mystery at this point?
i seriously doubt that braylon makes this team week one. that would guarantee his salary for the entire year and given his recent injury history i dont think thats a good idea i do think we will re-sign him later in the season, especially if holmes stays on the PUP to start the year also, i dont think theres any way spadola will make it to the PS. i think someone would snatch him up for their 53 ... because of that, i think he has a really good shot of making the roster
Come on, Clyde Gates was terrible? He was buried on the depth chart til a quarter of the way through the season, finally made his way into consistent snaps in the 2nd worst passing offense in the league then got hurt. He was not TERRIBLE. That's just straight up hyperbole, but that's what most people tend to do here. No, Braylon Edwards is not slow as molasses. More hyperbole. Is he as fast as he was in 2009? No, not even close. Slow as molasses? Jesus man, quit it with the self-loathing. Holmes is just about the only thing you didn't overstate.
I think the improvement of Hill and Gates makes this current WR corp decent IMO. We know that Kerley is an NFL caliber receiver, and Braylon is a solid possession receiver, I think we have a good group IMO. Can the Jets just make Spadola inactive?
Our depth chart has Hill as #1 WR backed by Edwards and Kerley as #2 WR backed by Gates. I know it's a few weeks old, but Gates has improved and Spadola has looked pretty decent. Massaquoi adds some much needed depth. I think the final depth chart will be similar to this: 1. Hill 2. Kerley 3. Gates 4. Massaquoi 5. Edwards 6. Spadola If Holmes comes back, Spadola unfortunately will be the casualty unless Edwards can't get fully healthy. There's a slight possibility he gets bumped.
He'd still count against the 53 man roster. If they wanted to be shitbags like the Pats, they could IR him and get him back after week 8.
yep ... but i doubt that would be the case because they would need him for specials and thats another reason why i think spadola would make the roster over braylon and massaquoi, specials ... i think either obumanu or spadola is making this team for their special teams ability
The reason I ask is because I don't want the Jets cutting Braylon. But I guess you're right they would need him for special teams.
smh Jets will b garbage hopefully they will get clowny or lee or sammy in the draft next year 1 of those guys will make them better instantly
Holmes isn't retiring. He wants the money from this year, and then the Jets will trade or cut him at the end of the season and he'll try to get one last big payday. He can't get top receiver money, but if he has a good year he can get a second tier WR contract. Teams will still be concerned about his injury history and the belief that he takes plays off / stops trying if he isn't getting as many targets as he thinks he deserves. That would hurt his value a bit, but if he is healthy and productive this season somebody will give him a contract.
