That was a great mock offseason but I can't see our FO making any of those moves other than bringing in Samuel for a cup of coffee. In 25 years as a Jet fan I've learned that's what we do. Honestly I'd pass on Samuel anyway for a variety of reasons including he isn't going to give us a discount because he likes Mangini. The guy I'd go after is Drayton Florence. Sure he lost his job but the guy who beat him out is going to the Pro Bowl. Florence was a good #2 until Cromartie busted onto the scene. Another guy although a RFA to look at is Foxworth in Denver he's only 24 but you'd have to be cautious with that RFA deal. I'd certainly give up a 4th for Foxworth if he was willing to sign. Many teams are going to be looking at Bryant Johnson as they know he was overshadowed by Fitz and Bolden. A guy that we could look at who is a 3rd option is Devery Henderson. He had a down year but he had a great 2006. He is fast but small so he'd fill in greatly as that 3rd option. We have lots of holes on the OL and unfortunately we signed Brandon Moore to a nice big extension so he won't be going anywhere. Ryan Lilja is a FA who is young and is an LG which means bye bye to the revolving door Clarke. Max Starks is an absolute monster and is a pure RT so none of this moving D Brick stuff. My #1 priority going into the offseason would be to upgrade the OL. I think our secondary is a good young one, our WR's while small get the job done. Our Rb's have the ability to be a dyamic duo as they have two very different styles and I think if KC had some time to throw the ball we'd be able to gauge how good he really is. Imagine if opening day next year our OL looked like this LT: D Brick LG: Ryan Lilja C: Mangold RG: Moore RT: Max Starks Those 2 additions alone would easily improve our win total by 4-5 games based on the holes they would open for the running game and time KC would have to throw the ball. Would we be at New England's level? No but by building a line and adding playmakers later we get a few notches closer.
I'd also throw Faneca in the LG mix. He is a top five Guard and a mauler, but woud be expensive. He would actually be an upgrade over Kendall though and make it seem like the Jets had a plan. Honestly, I'd love to see Faneca and Mangold going up against Wilfork and Seymour, we'd at least have a chance.
