I think the broken leg had a lot to do With this contract. He's been durable for the most part of his career but if he's healthy, he's likely getting 60+ guaranteed. Basically this contract is both a good one but one that Mo has to show he's back to being the dominant force he is. He's gonna get his money either way and it's a solid deal...
I believe Fitz signing a deal in the not too distant future is a virtual certainty if not a forgone conclusion. The Jets will give him $12-14 on a front loaded contract and together with the fact that no other team has (or will ever) offer him anything remotely as rich for the coming season, wisdom and good sense will ultimately prevail.
Glad to see Mo locked up. He's a great player and he is a leader on the field and in the locker room. No doubt he will help with the development of Williams and keeping Richardson from putting his head up his ass too often.

I must say that I'm shocked that a deal got done, but am glad it did. I've said all along that I like Mo, that he is one of the few players I wanted the Jets to draft coming out of college and they actually did. I never thought the deal would get done however, because I never thought that Mo and/or his agents would sign for less than $60-$70 million guaranteed, and I never thought the Jets would pay Mo as much as they will be in the deal. I'm pleased that Mo isn't as greedy as it appeared, and that he will remain a Jet. I'm also pleased that Mac and the Jets kept everything secret. I can't imagine any Jets fan now not believing in and loving Mac. Go Jets!
Definitely something the team needed to do in the wake of the QB situation and to reinforce the commitment to defense. Bowles is building the core of his defense.

Thank god, the relief of this signing feels like I just took a MASSIVE dump. Would have hated to see him go somewhere else. Hopefully a Jet for life or at least the foreseeable future.
