If we take this guy at #6 whats their biggest flaws and why he isnt being considered the first overall pick?
College crap? Hmmm...after they bust out the NFL they can always move furniture I guess So I guess if they happen to go to College they should major in Basket Weaving and FB Practice?? BTW did you graduate?
The human body is nowhere near full development at 18. You get most players a year out of high school and put them in the NFL and they're going to be crippled in a few years. By 27 or 28 most NFL players are at peak physical form, with their highest level of muscular development and most mass per square inch at the point of impact. Letting them hit 18 year old kids would be sanctioning manslaughter in some cases. When I was 18 I was 5'11" 165 and a lot of lean muscle. When I was 22 I was 5'11" 185 and still very little fat in the mix. The difference was 3+ additional years in the weight room and a 45 minute run 6 days a week at 5am.
Most guys who go ever seas to kill ppl in rice paddies and deserts are 18 yrs old, just weeks out of HS. But i know what you mean about the dangers of playing football. Scary stuff right there man.
I really hope we don't take him at 6. If we can get him late 1st or early 2nd i'll be satisfied. Not necessarily a huge fan of his but it seems everybody else is.
Save QB pick next year or 2 as one already stated will consists of more QB depth and better options. Draft LB, OL, CB and TE or better yet trade #6 for more picks.
I think we should rebuild the oline through the draft, sign a younger guy with potential upside guy (Glennon this year, or Garropolo next), if you can't get one keep Geno and see if Petty/Hack can develop. If all fails then draft a qb in a year or two. The kid from USC looks like a total stud. What I wouldn't do (and what the Jets probably will) is sign an over 30 vet like Romo, etc. who will make us just good enough (mediocre) to miss the playoffs and get a later 1st round draft pick.
You and I share similar views. So I agree with all of your assessment however I would not be opposed and getting a veteran quarterback providing that he will give us three solid years, while we groom a young QB at the meantime.
He looks so robotic. We already have one of those on the roster in Hackenberg. Rather have the Mahomes kid.
I agree. If you watched the Sun Bowl on Dec. 30th, you would have seen him lose a fumble by running into a ref (face palm). Maybe he can mature more by staying at UNC for his senior year, but if he's coming out for this year's draft, I hope the Jets stay far away from him. There are more than enough project QBs on this roster.
The kid even looks like Hackenberg. Wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. 2018 is the year to draft a top QB after we go 2-14 next season. This year's class blows chunks.
