I like it... Imagine what he could do to the Offense.. If he doesn't come BB, Spags, and then Marty... Maybe even Fassel

I dunno if anyone's watching Sportscenter, but Mark Schlereth claims that Shanny will have a new job lined up in 2 days. I'm sure he was being hyperbolic, but it should answer questions about whether or not he wants to take a break before taking another job.

Mort also mentioned that he probably will get a job soon, but he thinks the Cowboys make sense.

Great....lets experiment with another damn coordinator. When that fails, we will try it again....Please bring in Shottenheimer...The man is a great coach....Even if he keeps his son on he will put is foot up his ass if he goes shotgun on 3rd and 1....but seriously lets get an experienced head coach

Either Shanny or Rex as HC. If not, firing Mangini was a mistake.

Well, at least we know the field is narrowed with Shanahan...Oakland is not in the mix ; )

If it comes down to Dallas or us, Shanahan will pick Dallas imho. Let's hope Jones meddling turns him away.

I wouldn't mind Shannahan with ONE clause: He doesn't get the final say on the personnel, a la GM. Shannahan the coach with GM gig is a recipe for a disaster, as we've seen in Denver debacle this year. Then getting a real DC is about the only thing left there.

Marty would be my last choice.. His son needs to go.. Unless he was game planning the way Mangini told him too.. Otherwise Good bye.. They looked horrible at times...

I like Shannahan as OC..not as Head Coach. He doesn't need total control. Detroit really needs him or Browns.

    Total agreement here.!!!

But also ...Jets need to bring in a real {football} GM. Tanny is strictly...money-man.

What did they say about bringing in Steelers LB coach as DC ? Then Jets could keep 3-4 .

I would love to get Shanahan. The guy is a great coach, his problem at Denver was his poor drafting. Hire him, just don't let him run the draft. Thats what they should have done at Denver at least 10 years ago, take away his control over the draft.

Cutler, Clady, Marshall, Royal, and Hillis in the last 3 years. Not too bad.

He seems to have problems drafting Defensive players though.

I'd be all in favor if I knew that a top-flight defensive coordinater was also coming or at least a position coach that knew the 3-4 and learned from people that knew what they were doing. Keith Butler of the Steelers and Mike Nolan formerly of the 9ers strike me as two immediate candidates although I'm not sure if Nolan would want to be regulated to coordinater status after being a head coach last year...then again he might not have much of a choice.

I believe Shanahan is 5 & 2 against the Pats since 01 including a playoff win with a B level QB. As long as BB is the HC in NE that has to be a consideration. You can't get to the playoffs unless you can beat BB or back in to the WC. Does anyone think the Pats don't win 12 or 13 this year if they went in to training camp with Cassell as the starter?

Think about it, we could have a coach who could out weasel BB. In a contest to find the meanest old man in America Shanny would easily beat Belly, then spit in Belly's eye.
