Mike Greenberg on ESPN Radio just now, talking about the Colts winning the last 2 games despite Andrew Luck's sub-50% completion percentage and multiple interceptions: "You expect that from young/rookie QB's, but what you don't expect is those young/rookie QB's having the moxie to overcome that late in the game and pull out the win"

You know what, he's RIGHT, and my guess is a TON of Tebow haters would agree with what he just said about Luck (or most other young QB's), all the while completely disregarding and dismissing that Tebow did the same thing last year (without the high number of INT's Luck has thrown).

Shocked it took one of you haters this long to chime in and say that. You're so predictable. Too bad the answer to that question is completely irrelevant to the point that Greenberg made. By the way, did you know that Andrew Luck is co-leader in the NFL this year for the most interceptions, and in a 3-way tie with Tampa Bay and Arizona for the lowest completion %? and you know what, it doesn't bother me, because he's a young QB and he's shown a lot of positive things and some "it" factor, too, in my opinion.

Andrew Luck in his rookie year after just 13 games is actually 54.9% completion percentage.

Tim Tebow is just a hair over 8% less at 46.6% in 15 1/2 games as starter. DEAD LAST in the league.

    -------------

Andrew Luck doesn't lead the league in three and outs. Not even close.

Tim Tebow did lead the league in three and outs. One of the few categories Tebow WASN'T DEAD LAST. He came in first.

    --------------

Andrew luck total passing yardage is 3,598 in 13 games. (Only about 100 less than Manning, who is near the top in the league.)

Tim Tebow was 2,383 as a starter, on pace to finish at just over HALF as many as Luck will likely finish by the end of the season with 3 more games. DEAD LAST in the league last year. Even if adding rushing yards, not even close. (That and apparently when he lost yardage, it counted as a sack and not his rushing total.)

    ---------------

Luck 3rd down conversion is 43.6%.

Tebow 3rd down conversion was 30%, which also counts the Orton era when they DIDN'T lead the league in three and outs. Tebow era, it was about 28% DEAD LAST if going by Tebow's stats. Factoring in the Orton era makes the Broncos 3rd worst. Saved Tebow from the cellar.

    ---------------

    Luck took 24 sacks.

Tebow took 33. Granted, Tebow played a couple of games, but I doubt Luck takes 9 more sacks in the next couple games.

    ----------------

Yeah, looking at the career stats of both of them when Luck has only played a couple games less... they don't even come close EVEN when spotting Tebow the 2 extra games. Luck has a couple games where he falls under 50% and you Tebowners cackle around like some point was proven. Tebow beat the 50% mark ONCE in his 15 1/2 starts, unless you count the few plays he got in on the Jets where he only got to throw one to three of them, and I don't, as he wasn't starting.

I think ALL coaches and GMs would take Luck over Tebow in a heartbeat.

You really picked a piss poor example to compare in your desperate search for a double standard. Luck had just a few games that were a bit.... Tebowesque in the completion percentage department. Let Tebow climb about 8% as a starter for a SEASON, then get back to me.

So what? Luck threw more interceptions? Luck beats out Tebow by a LANDSLIDE in just about every other area. Luck stomps the crap out of Tebust in ALMOST every other area as a passer.

You're right. Completion percenage isn't the be all end all by itself. It also isn't the ONLY problem Tebow had. the low interception totals you DESPERATELY cling to might be a plus for Tebow, but not when it is low because the coach is terrified to let you throw, and not when it is low because half of what he threw wasn't even catchable. How does one intercept a ball that is straight into the dirt at close range, or into the 10th row? Even if ordered to do so, (as many Tebowners tried to claim when the lack of blocking or the dropped pass argument fails,) what does a NO RISK/NO REWARD offense really bring you. NOTHING if the defense isn't playing lights out while you keep punting the ball.

There is no such thing as a Tebow hater.

Anyways I really wanna know if Greenberg spoke a slash. That would be funny. But I think you are making it up.

Just because he's a sports pundit doesn't make what he says any more correct. He's observing facts and extrapolating a conclusion based on one example.

Didn't Luck break Tebow's record for 4th quarter comebacks this year.

Here's how predictive completion % is of wins:

    - Andrew Luck is tied for the worst completion % in the NFL among starters this year, and yet his team is tied for the 5th best record in the NFL.

    - Phillip Rivers has the 9th best completion % in the NFL among starters this year, and there are only 8 teams with a worse record than the San Diego Chargers this year.

    -------------

Here is how predictive the "three and outs" category is of wins in the NFL:

    2012

    - The New York Giants offense has the second best three and out % in the NFL this year. There are 11 teams with as good as or better W/L record than the Giants.

    - The Houston Texans offense has the tenth worst three and out % in the NFL this year. They also have the best W/L record in the NFL.

    - The Detroit Lions have the ninth best three and out % in the NFL this year. They are 4-9.

    2011

    - the Washington Redskins had the 7th best three and out % in the NFL last year. They were tied for the sixth worst W/L record.

    2010

    - The Houston Texans offense had the second best three and out % in the NFL in 2010. There were only six teams with a worse W/L record than the Texans that year.

    - The Green Bay Packers offense had the tenth worst three and out % in the NFL in 2010. They Won the Super Bowl.

    - The Chicago Bears offense had the fifth worst three and out % in the NFL in 2010. They made it to the NFC Championship game.

    Shall I continue?

    --------------

Here's how predictive passing yards is of wins:

    - Matt Stafford has the most passing yards in the NFL this year. The Lions are tied for the 4th worst record at 4-9.

    - Drew Brees has the 2nd most passing yards in the NFL this year. The Saints are 5-8.

    - Carson Palmer has the 7th most passing yards in the NFL this year. The Raiders have the 3rd worst record at 3-10.

    - Russell Wilson has the 4th least passing yards in the NFL this year. The Seahawks are tied for the 9th best record at 8-5.

    ---------------

Here is how predictive 3rd down conversion % is of wins:

    2012

    Seattle - 36% - 8-5

    Washington - 33% - 7-6

    2011

    San Francisco (NFC Championship game) - 29% - 13-3

    2010

    Kansas City (playoffs) - 36% - 10-6

    2009

    Jets (playoffs) - 37% - 9-7

You know one thing all of these teams had in common? Their pass/run ratio was heavily skewed towards the run, kind of like Denver last year (although none were skewed as heavily toward the run as Denver was). All of those teams either led the league or nearly led the league in rushing attempts or run/pass ratio that year. One other thing: 4 out of 5 of those teams were led by young or Rookie QB's, like Denver last year.

    ---------------

Actually, according to the stats, Luck has 32 sacks, not 24. But even if he did have less than Tebow after 16 games, see below for how important that is.

Here is how predictive sacks are of wins:

    2012

    - The 49ers lead the league in sacks taken. They have the 4th best record in the NFL.

    - Aaron Rodgers is 3rd in the league in sacks taken. The Packers are tied for the 6th best record in the NFL.

    2010

    - Jay Cutler led the league in sacks taken. The Bears made it to the NFC Championship game.

    ----------------

lol, if Tebow had thrown as many INT's as TD's, his supporters would never hear the end of it from the haters. But for Luck it's "so what?". The double standard is alive and well.:rofl2:

Well, Tebow wins in the TD %, INT %, Yards per Completion % and QB Rating categories, all of which I believe speak strongly to "efficient" QB play.

I've got more fun stuff on the way later, but for now I'm going to watch the Patriots/Texans game.

Cool stats. Now watch the two play. One is clearly a QB, and one is not. I'll let you decide. Don't mess this up, it's over 50% of your final grade.

Umm, BOTH are clearly QBs, though one is a better passer.

The eye test, though Luck sometimes has his "Sanchez" moment (throwing an INT to a DLinemen yesterday)

Maybe, but Tebow had less starts last year.

Not sure if this is true or not, but even if it was, SO WHAT? Is this a stat now?

How about W-L? I think that is more important.

Luck 9-4 as starter, Tebow 9-7. Case closed.

    :lol::lol::lol:

    How does that make sense?

You realize you are comparing 16 starts vs 13 starts?

Agreed -- all of the times that Tebow's detractors used his completion percentage as evidence that he couldn't ever play QB in the NFL, they were using poor reasoning.

They should have stuck to the other reasons that they feel, rather than grasp onto completion percentage so often as they did. Say things like "Completion percentage is not the end-all and be-all for a young quarterback, but if you look deeper Tebow's low completion percentage is indicative of a problem."

But they will move on and pretend they didn't use that reasoning, ad nauseum. That's how poor reasoning works -- it just flies around, gets a bunch of agreement at the time, and then is forgotten.

Ummm, no. One of them is an NFL QB.

The other one is a running back playing out of position. As soon as people, and more importantly Tim Tebow can beat that into their skulls that Tebow will never be a prolific passer, and never perform surgery on a defense through the air... he can finally have a decent career in the NFL.

    Really?

    Okay...

...we'll wait a couple weeks to see if Luck drops the next 3 games. Why not? Tebow did with the playoffs on the line.

If you keep telling yourself this it may come true. Tebow will only have success running as a quarterback not as a pure rb/hb. How has Tebow NFL career not been decent?

Tebow is a much better quarterback than Sanchez.
