How is the WR’s he selected a year ago (Stewart and Hanson )so bad they couldn’t play on the roster that is out here right now. He cannot pick players bro. So frustrating
The sad thing is with the Giants stuck in a dark ages of their own for the most part since 2013 the Jets could really have owned this town. Yet we're stuck in a culture of no expectations, zero accountability, 10 years rebuild so con men can stay employed. Jets better beat the Giants to Jim Harbaugh.
Our talent level, particularly on offense, is atrocious, and this falls squarely on the shoulders of our incompetent GM. He's used 3 high picks on wide receivers; none of whom are on our roster, in fact, they were such terrible picks that I don't believe that any of them are presently employed in the NFL. But the even larger problem is that our head coach and his staff are consistently out-schemed each and every game. It's my belief, that even if we brought in a ton of offensive line improvements, and playmakers, we are still going to be a bad team so long as Mac and Bowles is in charge.
Problem with Macc is he doesn't have the balls to make a big move. Cooper should be a Jet, not a Cowboy. Instead, he will use the 1st Rounder he saved for a guaranteed bust.
He did trade three 2nd rounders to move up to the 3rd pick and ultimately landed Darnold. And while Macc's drafting hasn't been great, the 1st round is where he excels.
Well, its a good thing we only have the 1st round to pick from. Those other 6 picks are a waste of time anyway..
Feh...another depressing weekend I can't believe I started rooting for this team at 16...watching black and white TV that had rabbit ears..lol Now If you reverse the number..I am closer to that age...and no wiser still supporting this clown show
Another problem I have with this GM is this idea that collecting first round top ten picks is the correct way to build a team. When you lok around the league the top teams the perennial contenders NE, Green Bay, Pittsburgh almost never draft high in any round. It's the perennial losers Cleveland, Oakland that are always drafting high.
I wouldn't say that they're a waste of time. I'm disappointed that more of Mac's picks haven't panned out, and he certainly deserves some blame, but with the CSs that the Jets have had, is it any wonder? I don't think we'll know just how bad or good Mac's eye for talent is unless or until Bowles is fired and Mac is allowed to hire his own HC and CS. I'm not sure that even I would want to go there, but I can't help but believe that some of the players Mac drafted and who haven't developed may have if we had a better CS and a HC who instilled discipline, knew how to make use of what players can do well, knew how to make adjustments, and put players in a position to succeed. Also, let's not forget that Tanny left the cupboard practically bare. I could be wrong, but don't think Ron Wolff, Ozzie Newsome, Bill Polian or any other GM you can name could have already fixed the dumpster fire the roster was that Mac inherited.
Nowadays teams have gotten better at evaluating college QBs, so drafting in the top 10 is the best way to get a franchise QB. But aside from that, where you draft isn't nearly as important as how good your GM, coach, and QB are.
Really. Fuck all that outside noise already. @WarriorRB28 since when is Harbaugh going anywhere? Do we really need to be worrying about that too?
I'm guessing that he thinks giving him a blank check and total control would be appealing enough to leave Michigan.
Yeah, I guess so. Always liked him myself but got the impression he's on a mission at Michigan and is all in there. Don't know tho. Besides, not sure he'd deal with Woody. Chris might be another story tho.
I wouldn't cry if they fired both Macc and Bowles, but I tend to agree with you that it's hard to fairly judge Macc given Bowles's performance. Having gotten Sam probably gives him enough cred to warrant being kept and letting him hire his own HC. I'm definitely sure that he isn't nearly as bad as Bowles. For me, Bowles has to go, the sooner the better, and while I think it would be expecting too much of the Johnsons to fire both - essentially doing yet another rebuild - I think they might consider firing Bowles at this point. One can hope anyway.
