Still searching for that edge rusher/OLB that could put this D at another level. There's no true edge rushers in this year's draft unfortunately. Still some good OLB prospects on the board and the Jets need speed desperately there. Don't even think about a project QB like Lynch, way too risky. OLB/OL/CB or get more picks should be the move at 20.
What about Noah Spence? If not for drug issues, he would have likely been a top 10 overall pick. Apparently he "kicked the habit" when he transferred from Ohio State to E. Kentucky. There's been a lot of buzz about him leading up to the draft ...
At this point my ideal scenario would have us moving up to snag Ramsey as I see this kid coming in and making an immediate impact solidifying Cro's old spot for years to come . Hackenberg is an interesting prospect in a later round. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like him but the consistency and turning the motor on/off questions always scare me when it comes to guys like him. I wouldn't be opposed to him. I just want big speed upgrades on the edges of this defense obviously to disrupt the passer but in stopping these speedy backs that always seem to turn the corner on our D.
Why would we trade up for a position we don't really need, at least not right now? We have arguably one of the best pair of starting CBs in the league with Revis and Marcus Williams, a rising young star on the other side. ....you really want that "Hack" at QB?
Good points. ... I also have mixed feelings about Spence...he has intriguing upside, but as you said he's risky... What are your thoughts on Darron Lee?
I watched a lot of him at PSU over the last few years and believe me, he has a a really bad feel for the position. He misses a ton of open guys quite often. I have never understood what some talent evaluators see in this kid. Total project.
Yeah, Lee is growing on me a lot. Tons of speed and exactly the type of LB I think the Jets need, actually I'd like to see us get a few speedy LB's with the way the league is going.
While that may be your ideal scenario, it would be my worst nightmare. While Ramsey is a great prospect, the Jets simply cannot afford to trade up for anything other than a QB, and since there's not really a QB who will be worth trading up for, Mac shouldn't even think about trading up in the first round. Constant trading up left this roster in shambles with holes and little quality depth. IMO you guys need to get over your wet dreams of trading up for players. That is NOT the smart way to build a team. That should have become abundantly clear when Tanny was GM. We need MORE picks, not less. Besides, the Jets have bigger immediate needs at OLB, OL and TE.
What I meant was if we did trade up it would have to be for a player that could contribute immediately and fill an area of need , not a developmental player who needs to sit on the bench for a few years and "may" turn out to be something . I'm not saying we should trade up.
Best Player Available. Trade down if it's a DL. The Jets aren't good enough to trade up or reach for need.
Corner is an area of need. Not as pressing as LB'er but still a need. I'd hate to see Skrine moved out to Cro's old spot.
Cryptic comments from Mac about the draft...on the one hand he says the QBs this year are "average" on the other he admits the Jets made a serious attempt to move up to num 1 spot. You don't try to do that unless you really want a QB imo. As far as Lynch goes it seems that from Macs comments we "like Petty a lot" he is not someone the CS covets ..thus I doubt we move up to take Paxton If Lynch is somehow there at 20 we will grab him as another dev project assuming we have Fitz or Hoyer in meantime Everyone on the Board is still referring to our team "needs" despite the fact that MM hates drafting based on that Its BPA
Considering the Jets have been trying to work out an extension with Mo for at least a year or two, this does not seem likely.
