Sounds like LaFleur called the Jets bluff and got out of town before the hammer fell.

Let someone else pay to teach them.

Sounds like Woody dropped the hammer on Saleh to either get rid of LeFleur or else. Woody isn't Saleh's biggest fan to begin with from all reports. I think MLF being the brother of Saleh's best friend didn't sit well with Woody either.

I’d like to hear what Saleh has to say.

zach shouldn’t play a single down next year. Some people just don’t have it between the ears and he’s one of them.

Not really looking forward to it as Saleh will say 500 words but not divulge anything. Just a plain presser saying it was a mutual decision most likely.

He’ll say LaFleur needed to go read a book.

I'm sure teams were setting MLF's phone on fire after seeing the astute job he did with the Jets offense.

I'm not convinced LaFleur was the problem, but it's tough to hold a job with the results he put up to close out the season - even with the bevy of legitimate excuses he has.

I think someone else put it best when they said he was good at play design, but not at coordinating an offense. He put up some amazing tape where he was constantly scheming guys open to begin the year, and Zach just couldn't see it, but then he wasn't great at adapting to personnel changes and game flow. He seems like the type that could eventually figure it out and be a successful, in-demand coach in the NFL. Just sucks he couldn't do that here.

Based on nothing at all, part of me wonders if his interpersonal skills were developed the way they needed to be for a guy in his first OC job. His brother and one of his best friends are both head coaches, so I can see him parroting things they were doing, despite not having earned it first. But again, that's based on nothing but my own thoughts.

I love how we endless suck and fire coaches every two years. Super successful so far! Keep It up, Woody!

    I'm disgusted right now.

Good. Now bring in an OC with proven success and let him develop the offense.

All the parts are new on offense, including the QB. Makes sense to rebuild now and get the new coaches in ASAP.

Again, 3 plus games without a TD... 30 possessions. I get the adversity, but just watching the games you could tell MLF is not ready to be an OC. Abandoning the run early, empty sets and not adjusting, no feel for the run game at all, not able to get multiple receivers or TE involved in a gameplan... Just to name a few.

Easier to hire an experienced offensive coordinator than to convince one to work as an assistant under MLF.

There is no indication whatsoever that this decision was made at the ownership level. Going up the chain of command, one would need to have both the head coach and General Manager approve of and endorse the quality of work and results the coordinator produced before ownership would need to be involved. How could anyone examine the guy's body of work over the last two years and come to the conclusion that his performance was effective?

He was a terrible OC. Passed the ball way too much. Redzone scheming to Berrios 24/7. come on man. Just awful OC. Even Gase had nice play designs at times – but you gotta adjust game to game.

Of course Zach won't play a single down next year that's a given. But, he still needs a teacher, mentor someone to get him back on track. Zach will sit behind whichever veteran QB the Jets sign but, from training camp forward they need to have the proper staff in place between the OC and a special assistant to fill the void left by Greg Knapp.

So, I guess all the beat reporters owe Aaron Wilson an apology, for him calling it this morning. Everyone was calling him out, some saying he has a reputation for mud. I'm hoping the new OC will also bring in an experienced QB guy... whoever is the new OC is gonna have his work cut out, & will need help with Zach, if he's fixable.
I just wanna see some actual gameplanning, adapting to what Ds are doing, utilizing talent properly, & getting all the receivers involved... a coherent offense. Don't be surprised if Elijah Moore shows a huge leap next season.
