Gase - yes, though as I pointed out above even his offense wasn't as bad, but come on now - Rex gave us some great moments. I really think if he had today's Zach instead of Sanchez as his QB, we could have had another Lombardy trophy.

Rex gave us some great moments, can’t deny that, we started full of hope but there was some darkness that kept growing, his stubbornness about the snoopy ball, playing Sanchez in the fourth, anemic offensive game plans, and the awful marriage later to Idzyck was a spiral into hell. I sure hope we trend in the opposite direction with this regime after year one.

Not to mention that ESPN is an unwatchable cess pool of "hot take" guys. I only turn it on when there are games on or PTI if I catch it.

Got no problem with what Greenberg said, except for bringing Rex back. But it is absolutely mind blowing that this team, under a new regime, is actually worse than they were under Gase, and he is spot on saying that nobody cares. They don't. The Jets are the most irrelevant team in all sports. I can barely force myself to watch their games anymore, they are so non competitive. Ah, whatever..

I like that he has the platform to say exactly what the fans would say, given the chance.

Fans forget that Rex took us to BACK TO BACK AFCCG's. He has done more for this Franchise in the last 40 years than any coach. His Defense was dominant in 09 and 10. Saleh hasn't done shit yet, he is another puppet who will be gone in 2 years

Except for the part where he says things that many fans wouldn’t say.

Nobody forgets that. That team was arguably the best Jets team I’ve seen in my lifetime, it’s only competition being the 98’ team who didn’t get any further in the playoffs.

I wouldn’t want Rex or Parcells back. There are reasons these guys don’t coach anymore. Parcells is 200 years old and Rex’s schtick grew old quick. His leadership style wasn’t sustainable and we saw proof of that in real time. It was still a shit show with perhaps slightly less shit, but 100% more foot fetish videos.

I don’t think anyone forgets 09-10. I think they also remember 11,12,13,14 though

Everybody loves Rex, man. Or they should. He played a big part in beating Brady + Peyton in 2010 in the playoffs. I believe we're the only team to ever do it albeit a weak stat because there aren't a ton that have played them both in the same year.

I do think it's safe to think we may have had better records with another coach though in the regular season. Those teams were absolutely loaded and held back by the lack of QB development. We won 20 games with our QB accounting for 29 passing touchdowns, and 33 interceptions + fumbles. That means the rest of the roster is fantastic.

Regardless, Rex is a decent .500 football coach and a dipshit on television most of the time. But I don't see what he said that's so wrong here? This team has looked lifeless which is scary when you hire a rah-rah coach that's not necessarily some sort of great X's and O's guy (maybe he is?).

Rex had issues but were watching guys that are completely in over their heads. Outscored 46-3 in the 1st half of games so far this season. Say what you want about Rex but he brought his team ready to play, unlike these guys.

And Greeny is 100% spot on when he said they coulda played 100 quarters last week against Denver and still never scored. I don't think I've experienced a team/staff so pathetic

Cmon, Greeny is spot on, Salah and staff have been COMPLETE failure thus far! The worst part is there is no passion/drive on this team, we look pathetic and uncompetitive. All gas, has turned into no gas, no need for brakes!!!! Salah and team deserve all the criticism, theirs is worst team in NFL after 3 weeks. There should be no argument there. To be real we have not been in any of the games, being beat in ALL phases. Not sure all the put back in this thread. It is what it is. Rex was not best coach, but teams played for him! His failures started with his drafting, just miserable! Gase just not NFL coach, should not have been hired! Bowles had to be the most boring coach ever, could not keep locker room. All had flaws. My hope is we can turn it around, and at least be mor competitive, we are well on our way to 0-17 if that does not happen!

The 2009 team wins the division with better QB play in the regular season. Sanchez killed us in the Saints, first Bills, second Pats, and Falcons games.

Not sure why all the hate for Rex/Mike, they are for this team and the Jets in general, and happen to be spot on about this current pathetic state of this team and CS thus far. Why is Gase any different than Salah right now, they both looked lost and incapable after 3 games. And the offense this year, might look worse actually.

That’s because there’s not really any hate. Rex and Tanny took the team on a hell of a ride and it was fun while it lasted.

Agree, but some of the posts in this thread tell a different story. No one is saying it was all good, but Rex is the last time we have had anything to cheer for, except 2015 season.

Greeny moves with the wind. He has no fuckin clue what he is talking about half the time and sways in his beliefs in any given moment.

He's entertaining to watch, sometimes, but he is just another talking head that is looking to generate clicks and views. I don't take anything he says more than that.

The one thing Rex got really right early was using the press as bulletin board material because the Jets are always a game of pin the tail on the donkey for the press. He used that to motivate the team and they played above their level in that 2010 season. For that 2 season period, Rex was the perfect coach for the New York Jets, but Tanny let the Oline fall apart and what small progress Sanchez had made went out the window along with all of his confidence. And Rex couldn't sustain that defense without Revis, although he wasn't the same player in other teams after the ACL.

The timing of the Rex hire was one of the very few examples of good timing by the Jets ownership group and they kept the offense mostly intact and kept the high performance STs unit intact.

Saleh isn't surrounded by HC candidates like Rex was, he is surrounded by rookies and man it is ugly right now. I don't think it's fair for anyone to compare Rex to Saleh, even if Rex appears to have understood how to motivate his players on this particular team better early.
