True. But if we don't land Taylor, then a pass-rushing OLB would certainly be on top of that list.

I hope we move up and get him...he might go to the falcons or patriots before us.. but if Rex has a hard on for him I am sure we will figure a wayt o move up and grab...who knows what Tanny is thinking at this point though...I am sure moving up for David Harris and having him be a beast helps the situation...I would love to see him on the team... he has that fire a pass rusher needs that Gholston never had...

We don't have too many holes...number one defense in the league..going DL OL in later picks would do the job if we moved up for him

Our main 'hole' would be depth. I'd like to get this guy, but our pick situation would be disgusting if we did that.

Number one defense in a year where league-wide defenses took a step back. The Jets didn't get many turnovers and didn't get many sacks, both of which are staples of great defenses. Hell, Calvin Pace even said it on JetsTV:

Most teams gain depth through the draft. We haven't been able to because we have traded up like crazy in the past few drafts. If we do it again, it means we'll be bringing in a bunch of JAG UFAs and hit-or-miss UDFAs to plug the holes, instead of targeted draft talent in a very deep draft. This is the year that you respect the value of a draft pick.

No doubt about that. Although it doesn't necessarily have to be one of the top-rated rushers of the draft. Hell, Rex got more out of Jamaal Westerman, a UDFA from Rutgers, than he did out of the single season sack record holder from Ohio State. Great coaching and great scouting balance things out. Trading up every single draft has already begun to hurt our roster.

I always think that adding an elite player is better than two mediocre ones that are backs ups for dept purposes. I don't hear anyone bitching about how we moved up for Revis or Harris and it hurt out depth..an elite starter is hard to find and if rex and tanny think he could be I say make the move.

While I'm not complaining about the players we got, it's no secret that we have pretty shoddy depth on the OL and at cornerback. And while we were lucky with injuries on the OL, we weren't so lucky in the secondary, and it cost us.

my heart wants us to trade up for a guy like Graham...I've read a few interviews with this kid and he sounds like he's the polar opposite to Gholston. He wants to destroy QBs, his hands/footwork are excellent and he loves dropping into coverage as much as he likes rushing the passer.

But my brain is on board with your logic....because i'm a firm believer in that we need to shore up our depth in a few key areas (OL, Secondary and the DL)....and this draft is the perfect catalyst to do just that.

Trading up hurts potential depth, but our last 5 trade ups have provided 1 all pro in Revis, a budding pro bowl caliber MLB in Harris, A starting TE that looks to be improving as a weapon in Keller, our franchise QB in Shanchez, and a Starting power back in Greene.

When this staff moves up they get very, very good players. I'm not for trading away more picks, but i will not scream and yell if they do. When they lock in on someone chances are we are about to get a hell of a players.

With the draft though, i feel we can fill a big need (DL, OLB, DB or OL depth) at both 29 and 29 in the second. I want to stay where we are but would not go nuts if we move around.

I'm hoping and a lot of Dolphins fans are hoping he goes to the Dolphins at 12. Mike Nolan has had some luck with smaller pass rushers. I don't see this kid getting past both the Dolphins and the Patriots.

I know and I agree with you. Winning in the trenches is the most important thing and we have been lucky..but the team is going to address what cost us getting to the superbowl last year.. and it wasnt OL depth... it is a pass rusher getting to QB...obviously the team wants to win now... so that is what they will address first..I am sure with later picks we will look to add depth but it won't be the first priority.... We could be looking at a CB in the first though if they think the value is there.. Rex loves them but i still think we will be looking for a pass rusher or starting DE before that but if their guys are gone who knows what we will do

I wouldn't mind seeing us trade back if we can find a trading partner. If we find the right trading partner we can grab an extra 1st round pick next year.

Like I said, I won't be unhappy if we trade up for a guy like Graham, as long as he pans out as well as some of our other trade-ups. But this year is the type of draft where you really shouldn't need to trade up. There are many teams that have stocked up on picks for 2010 for that simple fact.

For once, we might see a veteran carrying a rookie's bags onto the team bus

Attack the issue, not the messenger. This is a forum not the Jerry Springer show..there has been alot of talk about B. Graham in Miami around South Florida so don't be surprised if the Fins don't trade back that this guy may be the pick. He is a beast at rushing the qb and getting in the backfield. I'm sure if the Fins get Graham, many of you Jet fans will say how little effect he will have on a team other than your own.

    Well played.

I think trading up would have to include the 2nd round pick, which would get them to between 16 and 19.. Which honestly, I wouldn't have a problem with... If he slips out of the top 20, they'd still have to use their 2nd, but they could also get a 4th round pick back..

I'd have no problem moving up to get Woodley.. I mean Graham.
