Just saying Champ when you fire the gm you fire the coach, Idzik has done a poor job too, but 31 other teams would have fired the coach at 1-8
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet · 1h1 hour ago How are #Jets handling Geno Smith? I’m told before he was pulled vs. #Bills, coaches dictated his reads. Tried to simplify. It backfired Ian Rapoport @RapSheet · 1h1 hour ago Most egregious example of heavy-handed coaching? Before Geno Smith’s pick by #Bills CB Stephon Gilmore, he was told to throw it to Harvin. Throw MM into the mix too. If this is true, this is atrocious coaching and Rex shouldn't get another young QB next year.
Yeah I figured that already. This run basically buried him and if the above is true, it puts all discussion to rest. The throw to Harvin wasn't even a quick screen or something that is a "predetermined" read or play, Harvin just ran down the field.
When Namath dies the team should be buried next to him. Only motherfucker who could carry his end of the bargain and lead this mother fucking franchise anywhere other then the toilet. Apologies to curtis martin, wayne Chrebet and other leaders. 2014 jets most disgraceful team I have ever rooted for. Morningwhig sucks. Rex is a little bitch as a head coach "yes sir!" "Whatever you say sir" "I have no balls" "let me kiss the rings please." "I don't coach any side of the football other then defense." The defense sucks. "it's john idziks fault."
I don't think Izdik will go...... Rex is going to be gone at some point and Izdik will get the guy he wants to coach this team.... That's what I think will happen.
How will Idzik get a decent coach in here if everyone knows he's on a tight leash? We need to blow it all up
So you would have fired him after his 2010 season where we went 11-5? The only time you could realistically fire Rex was when Idzik took over, to get a fresh start. The Jets didn't and last year the Jets were fooled by the W/L record and the late surge, both which didn't follow up with this years team.
4 years no playoffs, 1-8, arguably went to the 2 championship games with Mangini leftovers, poor decisions, clock management, big stupid mouth he has run his course here...I didn't mean fire him In '10 but this clusterfuck has been building for years
Rex should know by now that his defense is predicated on protecting the football and running the ball on offense. We have all the weapons to sustain the offense that works best for a power running team and yet week in and week out we ran a baffling offense from shotgun which saw chris old man Johnson carrying the majority of the load for less then 3yds a pop and never able to find the edge. In '09 and '10 we ran the football with Jones, Washington, Greene, B. Smith, Tomlinson and a little of sandy. When we decided to stop running the football and switch to west coast we saw quick 3 & outs, turnovers and demise to a stout defense, tired, always on the field the majority of games. Rex let's other assistant coaches walk all over him, he has little say in play calling and is an idiot for allowing zero adjustments to be made. Let's run shotgun again today, this time it's going to work haha
Hey the coaches gave Geno the plays but didn't tell him to throw a pick. They can simplify the playbook for him if he's having problems but they cnn't micromanage him when he's on the field. It was the same with Mark in his first two seasons. He was given a "color coded" playbook, remember that. The OC and QB coach work with the quarterbacks and devise a game plan partially based on the plays the Qb can execute. And the ones the Qb feels confident of running. So please don't start the blame game (on the coaching staff) for Geno. Lee and Marty have given him the bulk of their time since drafting him. It's on him to successfully execute the playbook.
We haven't had real hope as Jet fans since the season we went 8-8 with the Holmes debacle in Miami.Ever since that year we have been a run away train of sadness. That was the last season we really thought we were a playoff team
The Pro Personnel Director, the Director of College Scouting, a couple of assistants to each of the guys above and the scouts.
It has gotten so I can predict the play calls on offense (second and long run play) and on defense (3rd down blitz regardless). For the past 6 years I tremble whenever our QB drops back. And before Rex there was more of Schotty and his particular brand of ineptitude. If they fire people Monday I am fine with it. I do not think Idzik got a fair deal so if they keep him I will not cry. But I am fed up. Again.
It is funny people STILL bring up the 3rd down blitzing. We play off on so many 3rd downs, rushing only 3 or 4, and the QB finds the open receiver and picks up the 1st down. Everyone is perfectly ok when it happens this why, but oh man we blitz and they still pick up a first down, pitch forks are out. It isn't a blitzing/not blitzing thing, it's a defense is bad type thing.
See, I think Rex believes that if he sends guys he forces the QB to dump it off and take a short gain. only Rex's guys do not get there A LOT of the time. A lot of coaches send guys in third and long with this philosophy, but their guys get there. So in a sense, I guess you are right. Not bad scheme, just bad play
