Schiano would want Sanu but their GM may not and you can't blame him given how laughable their Run D is. They need LBs, they might take a roll on Burfict in round 2 if he gets that far. They got Williams and Benn as their future 2.
to be honest, neither guy has shown the ability to be a #1. Sanu could be that guy. Besides you can never have enough weapons. They have to get Freeman to produce, quickly. The best way to do that, is to add top level weapons, and Sanu would certainly do that for them.
If I'm not mistaken the Rex prefers ground and pound. The Jets signed a ground and pound OC and haven't signed a passing game coordinator. Sanchez is best at play action and not a pure pocket passer. We already have one immature Diva at WR that is one wake and bake away from a years vacation and you want to draft another head case WR? I'm a strong believer in always drafting the best defender available with the first pick unless you need a QB, then fill needs with the second and third rounders. It helps when the best defender is also a position of need (LB and S).
No arguement from me on the first two, but feel another OT is a stronger need than a WR. I think Hunter is a great backup, no idea what DuCasse can bring. I'd like a starting RT.
The Jets cannot pass if a very talented receiver with size falls into their laps. I believe there's a lot of false depth at wide receiver. There will be speed guys later on, for sure, but I think there's a huge dropoff as far as possession receivers go after Jeffery and Floyd. The Jets have plenty of solid players, but they need more playmakers. -X-
No. Absolutely not. Not only should WR not be the first pick (unless his name is Justin Blackman), but I wouldn't want Floyd in the 3rd round. He has character issues and the team doesn't need any more of those.
I hope they aren't even considering McNutt (stone hands), Streeter (too much of a project) or Devier Posey (stone hands). I think Jones is overrated. At this minute, I prefer Quick, Robinson and Criner or maybe Broyles.
I'm starting to warm up to this. If the Jets can figure out a way to fill other needs via free agency, I think Floyd is exactly what is needed on offense moving forward. Sanchez is a down field QB who sometimes struggle with pinpoint accuracy and velocity, he will quite commonly get the ball at least in a spot where a play can be made. This points to the type of receiver that Sanchez needs. Someone big, strong, and physical who can get down field and attack the football. Floyd offers that and I think he has a chance to be a special player in the NFL. Yeah we can get a good WR later in this draft...but the type of player that Sanchez really needs, can only be found in the very early rounds.
I keep saying draft Michael Floyd, sign Braylon Edwards and add them to Santonio Holmes and Jeremy Kerley and Mark has his receiving corps
We can take BPA at OLB, WR, or OL (tackle or guard) this draft and fill holes while not reaching to fill needs. At 16 Floyd could very well be the best thing on the board. If we take a safety before the third in this draft we are Way over reaching on some decent talent that should go in the mid rounds.
They are re-airing the Michigan game where Floyd caught 13 passes for 154 yds on the Big Ten network if anyone is interested.
I disagree. There are a lot of big WRs in this draft who run in the 4.4s or 4.5s, even more who are slower. They don't need to reach for a WR.
Speed is only a small part of the package though. A guy like Floyd provides decent route running, great body controll and hands, and by all accounts is a very good and motivated run blocker. The Negative with him seems to be the problem with Alcohol. If he has that underwraps he's a frist round, if not top ten, talent.
We were talking about "risk" in the other thread. Based on what you said there, I don't see how you can possibly advocate Floyd at #16. He's too risky. He could wind up going to jail or seriously injuring or killing someone drunk driving or get suspended by the league. If the Jets even consider him, then they'd better thoroughly vet him, and even then I'd be loathe to risk it. I'm willing to risk a high pick on a player with a ton of skills and athleticism who is converting to OLB, but not on a player with substance abuse issues.
