Wow. Went out to walk the dog after it was 4-2 but am I reading the gamecast right? After walking in a run they intentionally walked the bases loaded and left Maine in there to HBP in another run? Manuel is as bad as Willie ever was.

It wasn't really an intentional walk - after it went to 3-0 he threw the fourth pitch for the intentional walk (and almost threw it away).

Well, that was more like the bad old days - Beltran leads off with a triple and the Mets don't score. It will be a miracle if they win this game.

Concerning that Maine can't seem to go (more than) 5, and that Reyes is 0-9 after the All-Star break. Just something to watch.

Concerning that Maine is averaging almost 19 pitches per inning this year. That really is a ridiculous number. Seems like he's turned into the bad old Pelfrey.

Actually I think it's worse than the bad old Pelfrey. Pelfrey's problem was always that he didn't trust his stuff, and nibbled until he was always behind on the count. Maine often gets ahead of hitters (although that was not true today), or at least gets two strikes on them, and then seems to be incapable of putting them away (or if he eventually gets them out, they foul pitches off and/or run the count to 3-2 first). I don't think that was true last year, which makes me think that his stuff isn't as good.

I don't know that it's even his stuff that is the problem. His "out" pitch was that high fastball out of the strike zone, if hitters have learned to lay off it then that could be the reason why he's running so many deep counts and unable to put hitters away.

Pelfrey seems to have learned that he can pitch to contact and still be effective, while Maine seems to be the one nibbling this year. His walk rate is certainly up. Maybe because he's not a groundball pitcher like Pelfrey Maine couldn't be effective this way but it could hardly be worse then the way he's been going lately.

Beltran screws around in center field, giving up the tying run in the 3rd. 1-1.

David Wright homers, giving the Mets the lead again.

this is why baseball stinks, anyone can look at the jumbo screen and see it's an out.

Thankfully, Ollie didn't get burned by that, that would've sucked.

2-2 after 4...interesting to see how Perez holds up, and if Reyes can get a hit this series.

Both starting pitchers got hits tonight. Don't see that every day.

Reyes got a hit...which is quickly negated by an unlucky double play.

Reyes comes through, but Evans had to hold up. Bases loaded for Wright, couldn't really ask for a better spot...all we need is a fly.
