Ok, I just bought field outfield tickets. Trying to decide if I want to be obnoxious and dress in Mets gear.
Why you think I'd have to deal with some drunken asshole or do you just find it obnoxious when people do that? Or maybe both? It's cold anyway. I'm gonna have to wear a jacket, so I think it's just going to be a Mets cap for me. Today's game Walt White and maybe tomorrow.
No, it's about drunken assholes or assholes in general. There is never any utility to wearing the enemies jerseys/colors etc. into the home team's park. 99.4% chance nothing ever happens. That 0.6% chance that something happens, maybe a melee breaks out around you and you get swept into the fray, you get knocked down a concrete step or shoved into a heavy steel hand rail or somebody just wants to take a cheap shot at a Met fan and you lose some teeth or you get a big ass bruise on your cheek or chin or you bust a rib or sprain an ankle. Or you get arrested. Through no fault of your own. To show you're a Met fan? In the Bronx? I've never worn Jets or Mets gear to ANY game--be it away OR home (and I'm a Jet STH and I go to a dozen Met games a year. The only time I'll wear my teams colors is at the Carrier Dome for football or basketball because it's a completely different vibe, being an on campus site. I didn't wear Orange to the Notre Dame or Penn State games at MetLife (talk about a-hole fan bases) or to Yankee Stadium for our 2 Pinstripe Bowls. I'm playing softball in CitiField in June and Doc Gooden is going to be my team's pitcher, so the guy setting the game up bought everyone Mets jerseys. That I'll wear. But never to a real game. _
I wore mets gear to Yankee stadium last year and it was fine. I sat in the bleachers too. The only time I had someone say something to me was at the bar after the game when we spanked them. I mean I'm a pretty big guy so I wouldn't expect many people to start yelling shit at me. I was also with 6 or 7 other guys who were mixed Yankee and met fans. But I do see where you're coming from. Back when we played New England in the playoffs with Pennington I wore a Chrebet jersey and I got harassed like crazy. Nothing I couldn't handle but that was what.. Almost 10 years ago?

Hey MS Not sure if you were justing Stokes' balls(cause I love to do that time to time ) his post is excellent. I am in his camp. I don't wear any jersey here in USA either. Home or away doesn't matter. Don't want to deal with assholes as lately I am seeing a ton of away fans at Metlife.
I always wear my jersey, especially to away games. But I'm not old with wrinkly balls like Stokes yet.

You see, right about now down 6-0 there are about 10,000 drunken Yankee fans just mouthing off big time to Mets fans. "Hahaha deGrom sucks, nice fag hair, the Mets suck, we own NY blahblahblah". There are going to be fights tonite. _

Your assessment of the ND fan base couldn't be further from the truth. We may be whiny, but we're as civilized a fan base as there is. Hell, most of our fans are over 70.
