Beautiful night, great game, crowd was pretty sparse. Giancarlo Stanton. Literally the pitch after I took this picture he hit his bomb HR Really like d'Arnaud Flores coming around to score on his 3 run homer _
Looked like on the replay on the big screen that Ichiro got the tip of his middle finger on the plate before the tag. I didn't think it was a bad overturn. They only showed it once so I can't be sure but I was okay with the overturn. Umps have been bad though. That catchers interference the other night was brutal. Missed the glove by 4 inches. _
Stokes, those are some awesome pictures man. Just something I realized with Colon, Harvey, and DeGrom. 5-1 with a 2.16 ERA. Could be the best 1,2,3 in baseball.
Ichiro def beat the tag but at that point he was already called out by the HP ump. So he had to see some type of tag on the initial slide. I'm not an expert on the replay system but if it's the same as the NFL then I think that's a tough one to overturn.
Mets going to a six man rotation. Great idea....just put more time in between your two best players from taking the field.
Danny Muno! First major league at bat and hit. He's the Met that caught my ball when I threw out the first pitch in Port St. Lucie!! Pulling for this kid. _
JStokes great seats, dude. Looked like a great crowd tonight. Sounded loud on the tv. Lagares is the best defensive center fielder in baseball. Colon has been very impressive. Gonna try to go to the weekend games.
Who else missed the call on Lucas Duda? I was all in on Ike Davis, thought he was going to be a 35-40 homer guy, a gold glove first baseman and one of the pillars we were going to build around. I thought Duda was a clunky strikeout machine without a position. When we chose Duda over Ike I was apoplectic, I thought Ike just needed to get healthy and he'd start a string of All Star appearances. Man did I ever get that wrong. Duda looks like the real deal as a true power hitter. The ball jumps off his bat. And he can field his position! _
Ha you beat me to this topic, I was gonna bring Duda up. I was very happy with the Duda decision. Part of it was faith in Sandy knowing best. But it was obvious that Duda had maturity issues, and maybe some esteem growing points. These are essentially kids put into the limelight and the grinder. Some of them take longer than others to adjust. Some never do My question was his D, and hitting lefties in the long run. 1st is obviously his position, and he's working hard at it. The key is he's driving in runs without hitting homers. And he's starting to hit lefties a little. Andy Martino of SNY, was making me ill with his incessant whining before last season about how Sandy was dead wrong on his Ike/Duda decision. I mean he wouldn't shut up about it. I give him credit: He admitted he was wrong over the winter. Duda has really grown and improved. He could be a big time power hitter, maybe our best one, for now. Very happy to see that. He keeps this up he's gonna be a leader on this team.
Wow another great start from deGrom, d'Arnaud and Flores with homers. If Granderson could start hitting? Harvey today!! _
How long before TC pulls Granderson out of the top spot? I'd swap him for Lagares and take some of the pressure off Grandy.
Granderson's only saving grace at this point is that he has begun the season as one of the leaders in drawing Walks. Other than that, I don't see him as an effective lead-off. I'd also like to see Lagares get a shot at it. He's got the requisite speed that you'd want.
He's hitting the ball hard but it just seems to always be right at someone. Last night he lined out up the middle..guy made a great diving play. And also vs Atlanta he got robbed of an rbi double down the line. However, I am in agreement right now about Moving Lagares up to that spot. Only question is where do u put grandy?
Granderson is also notorious for tallying a lot of Ks, which is another reason he's not optimal to lead off. I'm not sure. Maybe you swap Lagares and Grandy? If you're still confident in Granderson, maybe you go: 1) Lagares, 2) Granderson, 3) d'Arnaud, 4) Duda, 5) Cuddyer, 6) Murphy. Since Granderson has pop and some speed, I'm inclined to keep him in the top of the order. Not sure though, as one thing I didn't check was the Right/Left aspect of the batters.
Great...now d'Arnaud gets whacked in the hand by a pitch. And Blevins will be out for a while with a fractured left forearm. This is fucked.
Fuckin huge loss with d'Arnaud. Would be nice if relievers had some control. I understand throwing up and in but come on! Cuddy and Flores both got one on the wrist against the Phils. Now this. Figures this kinda start would be marred by a ton of injuries. Life of a Mets fan.
