If Winker was in the lineup the last 2 games I swear we would have perhaps won one of them. JD Martinez killed us. Better late than never I suppose.
The biggest playoff comeback ever was in 1929 where the As were down 8-0 to the Cubs. So barring history the Mets win tonight. I think the Mets push this to game 7 where all the pressure is on the Dodgers.
Dodgers just keep coming. Just get out of here with a W. This is the hard of the final 3 games to win IMO. Come on Mets!!
Interesting dichotomy - Mendoza desperately wants to give Diaz some work, but knows that bringing him into a high leverage situation would be extremely dangerous.
I mean they did what was needed which was win. Netflix coming out with a documentary on the Redsox coming back on the Yankees. As unlikely as coming back to win this series strangers things have happened. Oh and happy for Alvarez.
IMO this was the hardest game to win. Game 6 and 7 not nearly as difficult based on who we have pitching vs who they have pitching. There is indeed a chance they can pull this off.
Its just 2 games now. They can win this. They just need to get the hits when they have men on base. If they can they have a great shot at winning this. LA pitching hasn't been great, its just been clutch with getting out of trouble until tonight. We will have opportunities to strike and if the Mets do then likely they go to the world series.
Good stuff. Now they get a bullpen game against the Dodgers. Hopefully Cleveland wins tonight to extend that series and the Mets can force a game 7.
Dodgers conceded game 5. It was clear by the 2nd inning that Flaherty didn't have it, but Roberts stuck with him even as he was getting killed by the Mets in the 3rd. Then he was relieved the rest of the way by a guy (Honeywell) they just activated. Roberts is saving his bullpen arms for LA, figuring he's already won 2 games in NY, why waste his bullpen on a game the Mets will probably win anyway. This way he goes back to the home ballpark with fresh arms.
