F Max! When we needed him to clinch the division, he failed, in the wild card series, he failed again.

Quite a night for DJ Stewart - a home run in the 2nd, a tying home run in the 8th, a game-saving catch in the 9th, and a game-winning bases-loaded HBP in the 10th.
Alonso (finally) becomes the fourth player in MLB history to hit 40+ home runs in at least three of his first five seasons (and, of course, 2020 should hardly count). The others were Ralph Kiner (he had four such seasons), Albert Pujols, and Eddie Matthews, a pretty impressive list. The drama regarding Alonso's free agency will be interesting. I will be shocked if they trade him before the 2024 season, and actually think him signing an extension is the most likely occurrence. Still, he'll be 30 years old at the start of the 2025 season and power hitters usually don't age well, and despite his HR/RBI numbers, this has been a disappointing season. You really have to wonder which version of Alonso is the real one going forward - the 2019/2021/2022 version with an OPS+ likely in the 140s or the 2020/2023 version with an OPS+ in the 120s. Edit: And now he hits another one to reach 100 RBI.
Jeff, I'll be shocked, too if SC trades or lets PA walk. for the love of God, why does Vogelbach still get ABs? It doesn't make any sense. I don't hate the man, but, HFS, play the youngsters.
By the way, Ryan Howard also had four 40+ HR games in his first five full seasons, but he is unfortunately the cautionary tale with respect to Alonso. From ages 24-30, Howard's slash was .279 / .372 / .572 (OPS+ of 140); from ages 31-36, his slash was .232 / .305 / .441 (OPS+ of 102). He was out of baseball at the age of 36, and was paid $145 million for those last six seasons.
OMG, I hate this commercial so much. I mute it every time it comes on, which used to be a lot while watching Boomer and Gio.\ Although, I do like your lyrics!
