Nimmo coming out about a week ago saying how all that matters is winning a World Series and being healthy for the start of the season aged so well. What a rollercoaster of emotions. Going from Rodgers saying he wants to come to the Jets at 2 pm to 12 hours later waking up and seeing Edwin Diaz probably out for the season. Can't just be happy for my sports teams for 24 hours straight.
He's done for the season! I'm so angry! New York Mets closer Edwin Díaz tore the patellar tendon in his right knee during the celebration after Puerto Rico’s WBC victory against the Dominican Republic. He will need surgery and is expected to miss the season.— Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) March 16, 2023

Having an owner like this could sway someone into wanting to pick the Mets over another team if all things are equal. Steve Cohen’s message to Edwin Díaz was something like, “We’re going to do everything we can to get you better and take care of you.”At Díaz’s home, there’s a trainer, nutritionist and personal chef, courtesy of Cohen and the Mets. https://t.co/iHLTYDROBY— Will Sammon (@WillSammon) March 18, 2023
I would love for the Mets go call the Pirates about Bednar or go add Britton for just money. I think they will definitely make a move at the deadline for a closer or more BP help that is on an expiring deal. We will be getting the insurance money back from Diaz getting hurt.
“Based on past talks, Mets’ people believe it might take a combo of Alex Ramirez and Kevin Parada, something they don’t want to do.” #LGM ~ @JonHeyman on a potential trade with the #Reds for Edwin’s brother, Alexis Díaz. pic.twitter.com/vTTJkEcMl2— GENY Mets Report (@genymets) March 24, 2023
Thank God the Ruf disaster is over. Hated the trade at the time, hated the trade with every strikeout during the season, hated the trade with every failure in spring training. Eppler not exactly racking up the wins on the trade side.
Happy opening day! Definitely lost some luster and excitement with the Diaz news and then the Correa signing falling through.
Good start. Justin Verlander will be placed on the IL with a low grade teres major strain. He will continue throwing at moderate intensity and we will rescan in a week. We will provide an update at that time.— New York Mets (@Mets) March 30, 2023
Wow, it just never stops, does it? Hopefully all of the bad news is coming now, and will be canceled out at the end with lots of good news. I guess Megill will be called back up already? Scherzer becomes the first pitcher to start both for and against the Mets on Opening Day in a few hours - unless, of course, he develops a hangnail that puts him on the IL for a month.
It already begins! I know Cohen made it rain but I just didn't think having two guys like 40 at the top of your rotation was a good thing. Lineup wise certain flaws wasn't addressed. I'm not an Eppler fan is what I'm trying to say, I guess. lol
Verlander said if it was late in the season or post season he would be pitching no doubt about it but because it is so early in the year he rather be cautious and not turn it into a 3 month thing. megill will pitch Saturday for verlander and the home opener April 6
