Steinbrenner tried to buy championships. Sometimes it worked but most of the time it didn't. Paying Scherzer what he's making only to have him implode should be a hard lesson.
If their gonna go with the Scherzer isn't 100% for his last couple of starts? Then why would you start him game 1?
45 million fucking dollars, and he comes up tiny when it actually counts in his two most important starts of the year. I wish I could say I was surprised, but anyone who has seen my posts in the last month knows that I'm not.
Scherzer and deGrom both finished the season with no movement on their fastballs. It's pretty much batting practice out their. Once the Mets season officially ends, we'll probably hear about the physical issues they are dealing with that caused it. Both were unbelievably hot, then... nothing.
I don't want to hear about Scherzer not being 100%. He got rocked his last outing. The brain trust should be in the know. If he wasn't 100% would make no sense starting him in game 1! Scherzer being 38 yrs old is also food for thought. I mean next year he's gonna have to be on a pitch count. Honestly it's why I didn't want to sign him to the big contract.
Scherzer says he felt good! lol If he gets another go round he will know what he needs to do. He didn't know what he needed to do against the Braves! He didn't know what he needed to do against the Padres! He'll know what he will need to do against the dodgers( should he be given a chance apparently.
I have plans tonight, so I'll miss watching the beginning of tonight's game. Obviously, we need a gem by deGrom tonight and the bats to wake the fuck up.
My hopes dashed..espepecially as an old time Mets Fan I have not followed them per their Season But here's the windup: The Mets are at least 2 years away from anything great tbh
