Starters are gonna have to go deep because this bullpen is gonna ruin us in the postseason. McCann gets a hit.

We've seen some evidence of Baty's shaky defense here (Guillorme would have gotten that third out for deGrom, and there was that ball that almost went through his legs), and lack of the big hit has hurt them tonight.

After last night it looked like the bats were waking up. I guess not, we're back to not hitting with runners on base.
That ninth inning was horrendous. If Lindor is running with Jansen on the mound, Pete's got to give him a chance to take that base. Lindor was hung out to dry. Clearly, Pete needs a day off. Couple of other guys too.

Pete finally hits one out! 3 RBI tonight, 102 for the season.

McNeil with an excellent at bat to make it 4-0.

Naquin with the Golden Sombrero, the last with a swing at a pitch way out of the strike zone with a man on third and one out in a 5-2 game. Maybe it's time to give Canha a chance against the righties.

Baty picks him up with a two-strike two-run single!

Naquin with the oh-so-rare Platinum Sombrero (5 Ks). Ouch.

Big win, would have been nice if Houston did us a favor. Win the first one today so the 2nd game is a little less stressful please.

Back-to-back starts in which the Mets bounce Wheeler around, a real surprise.

No Walker tomorrow, by the way. I expect that they'll push him back at least until Wednesday, and let Scherzer and deGrom go against the Yankees in the Bronx.

Defensive hiccup at the end (you can definitely see why they were worried about Baty's defense in bringing him up), but nice game all around again.

Another poor defensive play for Baty, after a passed ball by McCann on the strikeout that should have ended the inning. Baty is hitting .200, too. Not a good day for the kid.

McNeil saves two runs on a great play to keep the Mets in the game.

Bad defensive plays by Canha and Lindor allow Schwarber to get an unlikely triple. Not a sharp game tonight at all.

Baty grounds out to end it. Mets didn't put up much of a fight in this one.

The Braves have only lost 3 series since July 1, two of them were to the Mets.

If the Mets don’t win the division it’ll be because nobody else besides the Mets can beat Atlanta. Hopefully with our unbelievably soft schedule in September the Mets get the lead to like 4.5 or 5 games before the 3 game series we have.
