If I'm an owner and I offer someone that kind of years/money and they don't take it? Welp go play somewhere else. I guess when you look at the aav it isn't crazy he turned it down. They offered too many years and too low aav.
Rangers take Kumar Rocker with pick #3. He seemed like a worth the risk pick. The surgery was minor. Let’s see if it comes back to bite us.
Give up whatever it takes and take on whatever contract you need too. Jeff + Pete have two more years of arb left. Cano is off the books next year, Max has 2 more years left before he is off the books. Canha is off the books at the same time as Max. Spotrac says deGrom is going to get around 36 AAV (3 for 108ish) and then Marte is 1 year after that. Money is definitely not the reason to go after Soto. All about what prospects and how you value them. IMO, you go after Soto, you are competing for the next 5-6 years and gives you time to revamp your farm system.
Julio Rodriguez Put up 31. Pete pitcher is gonna have to be faster but this seems like a very tall order.
Short porch in left was so nice for kid on Seattle. Absolute joke that Pete wasn’t #1 seed considering he was b2b champ
I'm assuming an extension would be worked out prior to a trade. He just turned down $440 mil. How much does he want?
The AAV wasn't even in the top 14 of the of current players in the MLB. It was a slapdick offer from the Nats. Yeah we all see $440 and say holy shit, but come on. No reason he shouldn't see an AAV some where around what Lindor or Seager got. He's 23 and his game translates super well for when he is going to be at the end of his deal. Spotrac has him at 15 for 32.2 which would put him a little over $480. 32.2 would put him as the 10th highest contract for all players and 7th overall for nonpitchers. I know this isn't the Yankees thread, but I'm curious if you would be okay with them going after Soto and letting Judge walk at the end of this year? I know I would be.
I know the AAV isnt comparable to alot of other guys, but there's ALOT to be said for the security of a 15 year contract for an athlete.... The dude can go through a rash of injuries and still have himself almost half a BILLION locked up.
I wouldn't like it. Yes, Soto is younger but Judge is the face of the franchise. I'd be really bummed but I could see why some Yankees fans would want it. As an aside, I forgot how much Lindor gets paid. 34 mil a year...holy shit.
He's the best SS in the NL this year -- On pace for 30 homeruns and 100+ RBIs. The only knock on him right now is his batting average is around .250. His WAR is 2.9, which is less than 1 away from the likes of Soto, Trout, Altuve, etc. But sure, overpaid. EDIT: I will add, he is slightly overpaid but part of that I think is that Cohen wanted to prove he would spend whatever it took.
If he was .30 points higher and right on par with the back of his baseball card people would be talking about how much of great year he is having. The AVG being so low is what makes him look so bad, but like you said - 30 + 100+ easily.
