The Mets starting pitching has been bad since Scherzer got hurt (5.74 ERA), and Walker seems to be continuing the trend - he looks terrible.
Walker certainly settled down nicely after the first, the relievers did their jobs well, and Pete with another dinger. 5-5 to finish the West Coast swing.
What are the Mets going to do with deGrom at seasons end? That's a tough call. He's so good when he's healthy.
He already said he wants to opt out. If he pitches lights out this 2H of the year, no reason to not retain him and pay him. If he is hurt this 2H, then he opts in and we get him another year.
So he turns 34 in 5 days. I could totally see 3 for 112 - 120 if he stays healthy the rest of this year.
Feels like there has been way too many of these blow out games. Scherzer & Degrom can't come back fast enough!
Not really worried about the 4 game lead. We knew 2 weeks ago that this would be a tough stretch and Atlanta just got hot at the right time. Go win the series today vs Milwaukee and then our schedule opens up again. 11x Miami 4x Houston 3x Rangers 3x Reds Before we go up against Atlanta July 11th. Hopefully Jake and Max are both back by then
Going 10 games over .500 the rest of the way out gives the Mets 100 wins. I think we hit that mark with DeGrom and Scherzer coming back. David Peterson just isn't an MLB starter at this point -- He's too inconsistent.
