Depends on the severity of Max's injury and even so, I don't think so. Williams would probably be the next guy up after Peterson. Hopefully MeGill comes back when his 15 days are up
Worst possible news - Scherzer has a moderate-to-high grade oblique strain. Typical return time is 6-to-8 weeks. With deGrom and Megill out also, this is an unmitigated disaster.
Just need them to be available come August and on. Bassitt/Carrasco/Walker/MeGill/Peterson can hold the fort with the offense scoring 4.5/game
Why do people act like baseball hasn't been around forever? Guys use to be able to throw the ball and not have the ball go to a guy head? Now they apparently don't know how and we need a Universal sticky stuff? I mean do they not have rosin bag for that? Darling wasn't out there throwing balls towards people head.
The contrast of the call on Cardinals TV is pretty funny. https://www.espn.com/mlb/recap?gameId=401354812
Extremely rare shutout win for the Mets at Coors Field (second ever) on a a great start for Walker and strong relief work. Fourteenth straight time they have won the game after a loss.
These next few days are the legit worst for me. I wake up way to early for these 9:45 /10:15 starts. Miserable
Joe Pignatano, the last living coach from the 1969 Miracle Mets, passed away today at the age of 92. He was Gil Hodges' former teammate on the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers and 1962 Mets, as well as his best friend. He was the bullpen coach, and was well-known for the tomatoes he grew out there. He is also the only player in major league history whose final major league at bat was hitting into a triple play. RIP.
