Let him walk if he wants a 200M dollar contract. Dude can't stay healthy anymore and I have a feeling his elbow is a ticking timebomb.
Mets go to 40-13 in their last 53 opening days, all the more amazing considering that they started 0-8. Their starter gives up no runs for the fourth straight season, which is apparently the first time that has happened in MLB history. McCann and Alonso both hit by fastballs in the shoulders not too far from their heads. It will be interesting to see if Scherzer sends a message to his old team tomorrow.
Tylor pitched good. I'm not going to lie, I got a little uneasy when they took him out for May and he gave up that laser hit to Marte and then the solo shot to Soto right after. Those were the two hardest hit balls by the Nats all night and it was right after we took out the starter. Thank goodness for Pete having the flap on the helmet, that could have been brutal if it got him in the face. I loved seeing Buck after McCann got drilled the 2nd time on the top step of the dugout letting it be known this isn't okay and then Marte after Pete got hit letting them know they hit 3 people already. They are set up to definitely take 3 of 4 from the Nats with Scherzer and Bassit the next 2. Gotta beat up on the Nats all year if you want any shot at the division.
WTG, Megill! Idk how you guys feel, I just hate seeing Cano in the line-up. Yeah, I know he had a couple of hits, but, there are some guys I just can't root for.
I'm right there with you. I can't stand the guy and then that trade BVW made to acquire him.. I'm going to puke just thinking about it. My brother and father know I hate Cano so much they played a prank on me a few years back and bought me a Cano jersey off one of those bootleg websites for $20 and they gave it to me for opening day 2 years back. Gave that thing away as fast as I could lol.
Annoying rain delay in the top of the 9th - hope they just end it, obviously. These Apple TV announcers are brutally bad. Hearing them try to discuss what analytics say about the shift was almost physically painful.
Ha... got home from work around 9:30 and found the stream.... they were terrible. Luckily the game seemed to be in hand. 2 beers and that delay = good night
I was tempted just to mute the audio and just watch the last part of the game. Missed the beanball though but I did see the replay. Buck already showing more leadership than any Met manager over the last 5 years. Give him 2 years and the Mets will be in the upper echelon. I'm just so glad that the Wilpons aren't a part of this anymore..
